Jerry was on The Fan for this two wekly segments, his appearance on Leno and his impromptu press conference this week.

He totaled 65 minutes.

Wade Phillips did four press conferences, one radio show and one conference call with the Atlanta media this week.

He totaled 63 minutes.

Find me another professional sports team that had the Owner/GM be more accessible to the media than the head coach in any one week period.

The Dallas Cowboys didn't make any huge roster moves this week.

The Dallas Cowboys didn't make any trades nor were there any media rumors about any big trades. (In fact Jerry made it public that the Cowboys were even offered one.)

The Dallas Cowboys didn't have any players suspended or called into the league office about anything that would require some response from the owner/GM.

So why did we need 65 minutes of Jerry Jones this week?

He's not the coach who is preparing the team for the Falcons.

He's not part of the medical staff who is deciding which players are healthy enough to play on Sunday.

And he's not going to be wearing a helmet on Sunday.

I know many of you will say yeah we all aready know he's a pain in the rear end, but I wonder what the players/coaches must think of him.

I wonder if behind the scenes any players have even been bold enough to tell him that his place as the Owner/GM isn't to be out doing interviews once every 24 hours, but that it's making sure this roster is filled with players who can help the team win games.

The weirdest one IMO was earlier in the week when Jerry had that PC at Valley Ranch. He even started it off with, "I don't really have any news, I just thought I'd make myself available to y'all."

He just loves attention.

Have you been waiting for Jerry's scheduled appearance on late night television to start this thread?

We're mad now that our owner did a long interview? Is that supposed to be the point?

He just spent 20 minutes the day before babbling away on The Fan.

Yeah. My whole life I have waited for this opportunity.

I think I stated at the end why I posted the thread.

To see what you guys think the players think of Jerry.

But you just skipped right over that part.

This is a forum where discussions are supposed to take place, but it is really?

The point was to see what some of you guys think about how the players view Jerry Jones.

I don't think the players put much stock into how much airtime Jerry gets, they're used to him being the face of the franchise. Now if he just fell off the face of the Earth, now that might get them to wondering what is going on.Point is,Jerrys' face time is just part of the routine at Valley Ranch.

The players love Jerry. I don't think there's every been one to bad mouth Jerry after leaving even if they left on bad terms.

The fans on the other end would start another bashing thread based on a 2 minute differential.

I will say that I thought he handled his show on Friday with Newy and Richie very well. I'd almost tell them to screw off with the way they were grilling him, but like Dale Hansen says, he's like those old clown punching bag things that just pop back up for more abuse.

I remember hearing Roy Williams on one of those shows on 1080 on Monday or Wednesday night... Sham asked them how much Jerry really talked to the team, and he said hardly ever, that it was more individual pep talks before games in the locker room, things like that.

He did say the players would joke about, "Oh, I see Dad had a word with you" when that happened.

I suspect the players admire the money Jerry has made and see him as something of a crazy uncle. I don't know that the interviews and so forth really bother them as much as it's something for them to laugh at.

So IMO, things like hiring the OC before the head coach, and hiring coaches that may be more loyal to him than to the HC, are far bigger problems than all his media appearances.

They're pretty much uniformly positive about Jerry in public, which is all you can expect.

Since the owner marketing his team is what lets Jerry be as aggressive as he is in accumulating and paying for talent, I doubt any of them have a problem with him doing interviews. What they should be critical of is how much access to the team and coaches he allows. I think that hurts our chances of winning directly and needs to stop. Brooking's hinted as much in interviews where he compares access and expectations in Dallas to Atlanta.

As the guy who pays them lots and lots of money to play the game they love.

I don't think they care what he says as long as he takes care of them.

Seems to me that the only ones who care about how much air time the owner/GM gets are those who don't care for the owner/GM.
