The Cowboys spent big money on a safety for the first time since putting the franchise tag on Ken Hamlin about 19 years ago. Let that sink in.
In LBs yes. And apparently they did also. I mean since they tried to get all these guys. Just, lost out, or didn’t really try.So you are advocating for big overspending on day 1 of FA?
First, I have WSU season tix, I watched almost every game of his college career. Next we’ve been talking about Thompson off and on for a few years on this board because I wanted him back then too. He’s decent, but he’s still a mid level signing. I’m hoping with CP, he turns great.I’m sure as heck no fan of how this team has been run for 3 decades, but with all due respect, this is just moronic. it’s not the teams fault you have no idea who Thompson is or how good he is and if they gave up everything necessary to trade for him and also had to pay Maxx or gave Hendrickson almost $40M per year for 2 years it would have been a mistake. We still have pick #12 and 20. That might be 4 new starters on one side of the ball. Plus we supposedly were in on Dean and are looking LBer.
How much more can you do in one off-season when you also tagged the top free agent in the NFL. whining on a day when we finally spent some money on good outside free agents is kind of bizarre
at some point we have to pay in order to win more games than the usual around these partsSo you are advocating for big overspending on day 1 of FA?
And I am one of the biggest Jerry supporters on the board, and always have been. But, I’ve started to see differently. We needed four starters at four positions
We found two
In pretty sure if we had signed a LB and CB, you would post this same exact thread but change the positions.
Seeing them active on day one seems to have really hurt some people’s sense of identity
I’m one of the biggest Jerry haters on the board but even I recognize today was different
We had the worst LB roomWorst linebacker room in the NFL and you make no moves. CLASSIC cowboys.
Maybe actually sign someone then wow what a concept. You know what the other bad defenses did? Signed multiple players. We had the worst LB room
We had the worst safety room
We had the worst edge room
We had nearly the worst CB room
There’s a reason we were the worst defense in the league.
If people thought we were going to find the seven quality starters in one day with one of the worst cap situations in the entire league ….
Pretty sure this was over spending on day one and no I did not advocate for this.So you are advocating for big overspending on day 1 of FA?
You know, not every player wants to play in Dallas, right?“Supposedly” we were in on Max, Trey, Dean, and Quay Walker too. But somehow always fall short. Why? You’re either willing to “break the bank” or you’re not.
No. The team should just keep doing it the way they’ve done it in the past. Don’t overpay. Don’t take chances. Don’t compete with the other NFL teams for proven talent. So you are advocating for big overspending on day 1 of FA?
Every player wants to play for money. Everyone knows why those players chose not to play in Dallas. You know, not every player wants to play in Dallas, right?
We don't know what motivated those players to not choose to play in Dallas. Until we do, putting the blame on the Cowboys is misplaced blame.
Mavericks or Stars?Hendrickson will be signed by Dallas.
We had the worst defense in the league last year and we replaced our DE Clowney who had 7.5 sacks and we trade for Gary who had 7.5 sacks last season. We added a decent safety.Let's see....
The team addressed OLB and spent meaningful assets on Safety.
On day 1 of free agency.
This is after they completely revamped DT last season.
Ya, no. This approach is different than what we've seen in the past.
They still need to add another pass rusher and a couple Linebackers. They have two first round picks to work with, and from what I understand, they're not done spending in free agency.
Serious question: what approach would satisfy you more than the approach that they've taken the last couple years?
They said the goal was to sign two difference makers on defense. So far they have signed two average starters and brought back a guy they should have let walk and become somebody else's problem in Sam Williams. I'm one of the biggest Jerry haters on the board and still haven't seen anything to change my mind.We needed four starters at four positions
We found two

Not the same old Dallas! How old are you sir!Same old Dallas, same old Jerry Jones, same old story! Everyone knows how bad the Cowboys need linebackers and pass rushers. One mid pass, rusher, and almost getting Max, and almost getting Dean, and not making up their mind in time about Walker proves that nothing has changed. Thompson isn’t Dollar General, but he’s more like Ross or TJ Maxx.
Every year, it’s the same old dang story. Today proves Jerry is not willing to sign a check to win anything! If he can’t beat the Raiders at getting Dean, and can’t beat the ravens at getting Crosby he flat out doesn’t care about winning.
We are all the same foolish cowboy fans as we are every year.
Old enough to watch him bring in Prime and get Hailey and brag about it. Old enough to remember how you win in this league. Old enough to remember when Jerry wanted something, he used to get it. Old enough to know he’s taken $$$$$$$$$$$$$ from our family for 31 years and never provided what his customers want most! Not the same old Dallas! How old are you sir!
