Jerry, get Shanny now. I won't expect to win the SB next year but we would get deep with Shanny and this defense continuing to play at a high level. With Wade as HC this team is going to implode and by 2010 we'd end up questioning whether we should keep a 34 or not, meaning we'd be in another adjustment period. We are going to host the SB in 2011 and if we got Shanny now with the age of this roster we would be making a run by 2010 to win it all or either do so in 2011 or repeat.
We can not afford to make this a useless year Jerry. You're too hard up on Red, pay Shanny $4 - $4.5 million. Keep Wade and Red as coordinators if you have too but get Shanny as the HC. This team will implode with the current structure and you're not willing to give up the GM spot. You'll win using our personnel department like you're doing and putting a chief like Shanny in there. Romo will not survive another year like this, the guy is turning into damaged goods mentally.
The window of opportunity is now, get him Jerry. You'll regret it both result wise and financially if you don't. He's a way better fit than a Cowher especially if we can keep Wade and there are Capers, Mangini and Crennel out there. Shanny has respect out there and a lot of coaches would work for him. These players and staff will be accountable. Brian Stewart does not deserve a DC position already paid or not, you're not showing that approx. $140 million roster that results and leadership are a must on this team. If you had to pay another $5 million to protect a huge investment like you're making wouldn't you do it? Cmon Jerry, you're a smart business man and that would be smart business.
