“It’s a great thing for us that Leary will be back for the first game and I’m sure that he will be,’’ Jones said. “I’m confident that he will be and it has everything to do with his attitude.
“I know how hard he worked to get back when he came to camp with a calf strain. If anyone would be ready to play under the circumstances, he’ll be ready to play.’’

I'd like to think Jerry's prediction about Leary being ready to play in the opener for Dallas is for real. However, Jerry isn't the boss of mother nature any more than anyone else. She's the one that decides such matters.
If Leary is pressured by the front office to return to action before he's ready, only to be relegated to the injury list once again, I'll be monumentally upset. As much as I'd love to see Leary be ready and play well against the Giants, it wouldn't be worth the risk of losing him for the remainder of the season; that much is for certain.
Let the doctors have the final say on what Leary's fate is for the opener. I can only assume Jerry has consulted them before making that statement. Jason Garrett has rendered much the same verbal offerings himself. If Jerry's statements are based on the prognosis of the team doctors, he should let it be known, rather than making it sound like it's all his idea. At any rate, we'll see how it goes. Hopefully, it'll all work out.
Now I'm starting to freak out. When Jerry starts guaranteeing people will be back from injury that's scary.
When someone goes down with a good player behind them Valley Ranch talks about "next man up" and how confident they are in rookie X, 2nd year player Y, free agent Z, etc. When they don't say that and instead insist that the injured player is absolutely going to be back in 3 weeks rather than the 4, 5, or 6 that can be expected - that means they have no confidence in the guys who will be starting in the injured player's absence.
This concerns me.
