Jerry: I'm pretty satisfied that we draft well

We draft well across the line but we are dinged up, young and without depth on that line.
Do we though?

Out of our recent notable draft picks, Bebee and Booker have been ok thus far, Guyton has been pretty nearly a disaster.

McGovern, and Williams were two recent 2nd and 3rd rounders that did not last here either.

Tyler Smith has been a monster, but for three first rounders and a third rounder on this line, the unit itself is extremely mediocre. If you put in that level of draft capital, you've got to have a bonafide top unit.

The drafts that produced Tyron, Zach Martin, and Frederick are over a decade old now. The modern Cowboys have not gotten nearly the result out of our OL picks.

The 2023 and 2024 drafts would be enough to get most GMs fired. If they hadn't lucked into Parsons in 2021, that draft would be considered a disaster as well.

Verdict is out on 2025, but the early returns are poor at best. I do have hope that EZ, Booker, and Revel will develop into good starters though, so not ready to pass judgement there.

"As far as the overall long term drafting, I'm pretty satisfied that we draft well."
And that’s the whole problem with our franchise. The owner is “satisfied” with the product on the field. If he’s satisfied why would he change anything? That’s why a lot of fans, me especially, is starting to feel this is hopeless.

You'd have to be compiling a defense this crummy on purpose.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan when asked about their defensive drafting: "I like No. 41 (Donovan Ezeiruaku). I think he's gonna be one of the best players we've drafted recently. We've got to see it, but we're going to be bringing on (CB Shavon Revel).

Reminds me of myself.

My wife always sends me to the grocery store to get some vegetables and stuff. Almost EVERY time, she finds something with the veggies I picked (almost always she's right tbh).

However, out of defiance, I always tell her "I am pretty satisfied that I picked well"

Yes, Jerry, that's why we have the worst D in the NFL, it's your drafting!!!

But we got Schooner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some guys we drafted are still playing in the league but just aren’t here.

We cant draft defense to save our lives, other than Parsons. May be Bland as well. I dont understand how people can seriously not want to trade some of these picks for a proven player. Instead they want to draft 3 or 4 guys with those first rounders. Then what, wait 5 years for those same players drafted to show you theyre not worth the picks? And we end up waiting all 5 years even though they show you well before that they should've been cut long ago. This team has a problem admitting mistakes and cut their ties early, and yet people dont want to trade those picks. Drafting with all 4 of those picks 1st rounders would be the stupidest thing this franchise has ever done. Theyre gonna waste half a decade.
They can waste them either way , drafting badly, or trading badly.
They can and probably will screw up either way.
