Chris Dimino of Fox Sports in Atlanta said that Frank Broyles does a morning talk show with them. He said he asked Broyles about this Petrino thing and he played Sgt. Schultz...

Broyles said that Jerry Jones had agreed to buy out the contract of Tommy Tuberville so he could leave Auburn and come to Arkansas but that Tuberville decided to stay in Alabama.

Dimino then asked again how Petrino came into the picture. He said Broyles said "Thank God we have Jerry Jones"...

I hope Jones wasn't involved. It seems there could be legal ramifications if he was.

I'd bet Jones has a clear line of distinction drawn. It could be as simple as Jones agreeing to donate X dollars earmarked for a football coach. Most of the stuff that goes on with major donors is a wink and nod, not like Pickens at OK St.

Is there anything Jerry Jones isn't involved with?
:laugh2: No kidding...

Wonder how much that Tuberville buyout was going to be?

Jerry is amazing.

Running the highest-profile team in the NFL.

Building a billion-dollar stadium.

Taping commercials.

On the practice field nearly every day.

Going to war against the Cable TV companies.

And brokering deals to get Arkansas a new coach.

That guy is wired differently than most people. He must plug himself into a battery charger every night.

Wouldn't surprise me if Jones had a part, hope not, but maybe Broyles is just confabulating. He is 130 years old.

BTW, anybody read the spanking one Pat Forde of espn dolled out to Petrino on its website today? W@W!

Good synopsis.

Chances are if that is the case, Jones would have had lawyers draft something up to make sure that he doesn't have any legal ramifications. To buy out a contract that cost millions, it's not like he's just handing over a check to get the job done.

Jones is an alumni and a booster for Arkansas...there is nothing wrong with what he was reportedly going to do

and there's no "buy out" for Atlanta...he just quit and went back to college football

Absolutely nothing wrong with him being involved in the Tuberville situation...

However, I didn't say he said there was a buyout involved in the Atlanta job. Dimino implied that Jerry had something to do with Petrino leaving Atlanta per Broyles' comments. Broyles' comments could have been misconstrued, but the way he stated it on the radio it didn't seem that way. I just stated I hoped Jerry had nothing to do with that...

Jerry is somehow going to hire Jeff Gilooly (sp) to mildly injure DMac so his draft stock will fall and we could select him reasonably.
