"@clarencehilljr: jerry jones talked for 2 hours to the local media saturday, says he has a lot of resolve but not a lot of patience http://pic.twitter.com/MDiV16FDPk"

"@clarencehilljr: jerry jones say its garrett's decision who calls the plays. All he has done is no longer make it a prerequisite that Garrett call plays"

"@clarencehilljr: It was a requirement of Jones in the past but not anymore. Not after back to back 8-8 seasons. Jones just wants immediate improvement"

"@clarencehilljr: Jerry Jones wouldn't say Jason Garrett had to win next year to keep his job. But he did say he doesn't want to go 8-8 again"

"@clarencehilljr: Jerry Jones said the cowboys have been in a rut the past 2 years which he likened to lying in a coffin. Changes were made to get out the rut"

"@clarencehilljr: Jerry Jones said general manager has not done a good job relative to the team's record. But he will remain the general manager."

"@clarencehilljr: Jones said it would be "a facade", it would be "deception" if he hired another gm knowing that he would still be calling the shots"

"17 years of failure"

"I can't wait for Jerry to kick the bucket"

"Jerry shouldn't be making any comments to the press because he's not qualified"

Now that we got those out of the way, maybe we can have some differing comments on this...

I will say Jerry does seem to want to win and will leave almost no stones unturned (except over who ultimately makes the final decision for the team). I don't live far from Buffalo and if you want perpetual failure and the seemingly "ho-hum" lip service paid by ownership when it comes to the direction of the team, look no further than Buffalo.

I don't get the same feeling from Jerry Jones as I have from the Ralph Wilson crew.

What I suspected for a very long time. At least Garrett gets to make the decision now.

Under the circumstances, what we need to happen, which hasn't in the past, is that there are a solid corps of folks under Jerry who can give me the best information possible when it comes to being able to make a decision.

I like the the direction the team has taken in the draft process and it seems if it can happen there it can happen elsewhere.

That's a good point. But the pressure is on this entire organization to have to draft well in a couple months and make the playoffs.

Very telling. So Garrett better get this team ready this year and make a run or else........

Ralph Wilson basically handed over the keys to Russ Brandon publicly.

Other than that, great point.

"@clarencehilljr: Jerry Jones said general manager has not done a good job relative to the team's record. But he will remain the general manager."

and that right there is the core problem to everything.

Ralph Wilson doesn't have nearly the money Jerry does, either. Not even close.

Funny though how whichever spin you choose on Jerry's comments, he admits that he's the one in charge. Hard to believe that some still argue that.

So Jerry basically came out and said he wont be able to give Spencer the deal and amount of money he wants or can get elsewhere. Im sure Dallas will still talk to see if he is willing to stay for less. He wont. Bye spencer.

So Crawford IMO will be the SDE unless they draft a player like Ansah, Datone Jones, or a dark horse that can come in and be a passrush specialist later in the draft and develope to take over for Ware in a few yrs in Chase Thomas.

this should not surprise anyone. Really. There was no way that Jerruh was going to cough up $10 mil a year for spencer. And that is probably just what someone else will give Spencer.

I would give Crawford a year, and then trade our next 10 1st round picks so we can draft Jadeveon Clowney.

I am skeptical Clowney is going to be THAT good.

When was the last time a college player was called THAT good a couple of years ahead of time and became THAT good in the pros?

Can't post because I'm on my phone but just read a article on nfl.com that jj said that they can get away with not having a great ol because of romo can avoid pressure. He said they would look at te and wr before ol. Someone can post if they want to.

I never really expected them to sign him. But im glad he basically all but assured that today.

With Romo probably cutting his cap hit in half, Free's 7 mil gone, Carr probably around 8-10 mil cleared. Cap is cleared. with about 3-4 mil space, Add in players like Connor, Sense, Spears, all cut, and Austin, Witten, Ware all restructuring probably will give Dallas plenty of room. Not to be careless but room to get the job done.

He has now, but they went a lot of years with a lot less success than what the Cowboys have.

He said when forced to choose, he would choose WR and Te before OL. But they dont need WR or TE. Jerry puts more emphasis on Skill posistion than OL thats no secret.
