Jerry Jones spent several hours at Valley Ranch Wednesday morning discussing free agency before he left to take part in a press conference at Cowboys Stadium for the upcoming fight.

Jones said he has a sense of what the club will be able to do in free agency and said the team is ready to start scheduling visits.

"I don't want to give a time, because this has everything to do with their schedules,'' Jones said.

Jones said he has enough information to act now on any player the Cowboys want if the situation warrants. But he also believes there will be some opportunities that are not yet apparent.

"I'm anticipating some value and opportunity that is not necessarily there right now,'' Jones said. "The process hasn't let us get there.

"Now, if that doesn't show, that will limit what I do.''

Sounds like we might be giving an injured player time to heal up so he can pass a physical.

Atogwe? Sharper?

Sounds like he is waiting on someone else to be released, or one of his players (Spears?) to sign with someone else?

There are plenty of guys left. Not huge names but how hard is it to upgrade a guy like Proctor or Sam Hurd. Think back to last year. Noone even mentioned Sensabaugh until he was scheduled to visit. Jerry himself saif that he anticipated opportunities that aren't apparent yet. That means either a trade or someone being cut loose.

Who did we lose in free agency that allows us to sign somebody (Final 8 rule)?

i dont think he's waiting for either. The boys are biding their time , and then hoping that better deals can be had imo. Waiting for somebody to offer a first rounder for Spears means we'll be waiting along time imo.

I would like to have Darren Sharper in Dallas.

It won't happen, but I'd like it.

No one.

But we can still sign one UFA without losing someone.

And of course we can sign whoever gets cut. Without having to lose one of our own.

Two things we've agreed one in one day?

Wow.

But yeah give me Sharper on a one yr deal. Draft Nate Allen. Nate Allen starts in 2011 and he will learn behind one of the bests.

Non issue. Dallas can sign one UFA to a big money deal and as many as they want for $3.5 million a years or less. They can also sign anyone that is cut to anything they want. They really were not limited at all. They could have signed Peppers and Rolle if they had wanted to.

I think Dallas under the rules may sign any player that will be or was already released. maybe he knows of player(s) that will be released and it just has not been done yet for one reason or another.

That's exactly how I read into his comments as well. Sounds like he's waiting for the demands of FAs who think they're going to make a truckload of money in a uncapped year to come back to earth and realize that isn't going to happen. Once they realize that thier options are limited this year then they'll have no choice but to lower thier demands. Jerry is going to let the market come to him and get some bargains instead of setting the market and driving up the price on himself. Smart move.
