Jerry Jones discusses FA moves' effect on draft

He had this to say just the other day (Tuesday), according to dallascowboys.com:

Jones believes the Cowboys have addressed enough needs to take the ‘best player available’ approach in the draft next month, though he indicated that quarterback and running back weren’t likely options at No. 4 overall.

It also is interesting to read that he thinks McFadden will carry the ball more than Morris because he gets more comfortable as a runner the more he has the football in his hands. To me, that's not a particularly compelling reason to give a back more carries.

Anyone else try to see his interview? Good lord i Had a hard time listening to jerry. Hes so boring. All his pauses and lip smacks and non sense he says.

This just complies with the standard of improving the team members as the team's leader approaches his last few seasons with the Cowboys. That works no matter who is eventually at the helm...but quarterback is still on the table at some point.

The more he uses Dmac, the greater the chances are that he could get injured. Chances are that we'd likely see either Morris or someone else take over.

Not that this would necessarily be a good thing. Be that as it may, perhaps a durable RB might be forthcoming at around the mid point or later in the draft.

Agreed. In 25 of 27 drafts during the Jones era we have traded picks. Jerry can talk all the smack he wants about pick #4 because were probably waiting a few picks later.

Its mind boggling that people watch the super bowl every year and dont realize that Defenses still at the end of the day win Championships....

That or have a once every generation QB who goes down as one of the top 3 to ever play...

But no seriously Defenses win Championships and we dont have enough playmakers/difference makers to win one still

He also said they didn't have to take a pass rusher or CB early in the draft. Then turned around and said they could look at more premium players at 4 over bpa, which he listed as QB, pass rusher and CB. He was talking out of both sides of his mouth contradicting himself every other sentence. So yeah, the only thing anyone is really getting out of his talks right now is nothing.

As good as Zeke and Wentz or Goff good bebas picks, DALLAS sorely NEEDS 2-CB's and 2- new Safeties and 2 more or not more players in the DL. Jerry has wasted previous picks and past opportunity. We are a long way from DOOMSDAY

Not a complaint at all. Unless you are after Goff/Wentz If we can get a decent offer to move down 3-5 spots I think you take it without hesitation.
