It was late at night when I saw a quick piece on ESPN in which Jerry Jones was pressed on the Darren McFadden scandal. I call it a scandal because many rumors have Jones considering trading away our Barbarian running back Marion Barber. I think there is a minority of fans that support trading Barber. I am not in that minority.
I will have to paraphrase what the quotes were, but Jones was basically asked about the Cowboys running back situation. His reply was that he is aware that there is uncertainty with Julius Jones, so running back is a key position the Cowboys need to look at for this coming season. But he said what the Cowboys may do “will surprise some people.”
Jones said the Cowboys don’t necessarily need to fill Julius Jones’ spot in the draft (McFadden). He said there is a free agent market as well. His quotes really seemed to focus on the free agents, not the draft.
This opened up a huge Pandora’s box.
San Diego’s Michael Turner is the biggest free agent name available. Other names are Jamaal Lewis in Cleveland, Justin Fargas in Oakland and Derrick Ward in NY (restricted).
I would be happy with Turner. Is Jerry Jones working out a free agent deal for Michael Turner?
