If you want to hold Jerry responsible for our failure to win a playoff game, that makes sense. However, to accuse jerry of being this egotistical puppeteer is old and I'm sick of that myth. I say this because i used to accuse him of being that on this very forum 7 years ago. I'm sorry but Jerry put those allegations to rest a long time ago when he hired Bill Parcells. Not only did he hire Parcells but he allowed Bill to hire his own staff. In addition, he allowed Bill to start Vinny Testaverde instead of starting Drew Henson, who Jerry wanted Bill to start. Jerry allowed Bill to be Bill for three seasons until he left. It's funny how so many of you have erased this from their memory.
I don't want to keep Wade Phillips. I disagree with Jerry's decision to keep him. I would prefer to hire Mike Shanahan. However, Jerry isn't keeping Wade because he feels Wade is mindless puppet he can control. Maybe Jerry felt that way toward Dave Campo but Wade Phillips is an accomplished defensive coordinator and a previous head coach. Yeah, i don't think Wade is good enough but it's not like Wade is some schmuck.
Why is it so hard for you guys to understand Jerry's view. This team was a favorite to go to the Superbowl. It didn't turn out that way but you can't argue that this team lacks talent to go to a Superbowl. Jerry still believes in this team. Me, I personally would rather rebuild with Shanahan but jerry doesn't want to undergo the growing pains that accompanies any new coaching hire. Jerry wants to keep it together to give it one more shot. Like I said, I disagree with Jerry but I understand where he is coming from. However, he is not keeping Wade so that he can be some pseudo coach. That is ridiculous and those accusations are just silly. Jerry has proven that he is willing to win even if its not his way ie Bill Parcells tenure.
