From executive of the year, to back to a know nothing Arkansas hick, lol.

Funny how 1 winning season in 6 years got him executive of the year. Maybe had something to do with Stephen and Will McClay having more control, or did we finally get lucky once in 20 years?

He's the guy who gave up sobriety during prohibition and then decided it was time to go on the wagon when it ended. He HAD good coaches whom he had no patience with and decided to can them and now when he has a coach who had zero experience to start he wants to make up for his sins by being patient...like he learned a lesson. His timing at anything he tries is horrible.

For a very wealthy man, Jones has a very fragile ego. It's been his undoing.

At the risk of overgeneralizing, I have found in my interactions with the wealthy and very wealthy that part of the motivation to surround oneself with great material wealth is precisely to compensate for a fragile ego. That is what this last 20 years has been all about for Jones. Its a vanity project. He will go to his grave attempting to prove something he is not--the architect of one the great dynasties in all of American sports--for the simple reason that it stings his ego that Jimmy Johnson rightly gets all (or most) of the credit for those dynasty's. Had he a less fragile ego, he would be very proud of his valuable contributions to that project.

I think Mr. Jones is guilty of what happens to many of us.

Success makes you lazy and unwilling to critizize yourself and you ignore your peers as not knowing what you know.

Pretty fair description of our owner?

Well, I think Jerry thinks he knows better than everybody else and has thot we are so close he just needs to add a couple pieces to get in the tournament and then get hot, rather than build a solid team that has more than just a chance at getting hot if they happen to get in the playoffs. I dont think Jerry has gotten lazy really, but he doesnt hurt enough at the lack of any real sustained success on the field and is still living off of those 3 Lombardis from 20+ yrs ago. So, we prob agree in principle but differ on the "lazy" factor.

It's all ego driven. I think Jerruh would let up on his death grip if he could win just one SB. Unfortunately, we all know the FO structure and his final say so will continue to steer the franchise into the mediocrity. He'll be the next Al Davis in a few years, calling down plays from his suite....

What we have here, to this fan, is a judgment on record...not the man. Jerry is all in on the Cowboys, and always has been. Seperate disdain for the man, in a picture of today...just my view.

“Well, I saw how we got there for the first three that I was involved with,” Jones said at the Senior Bowl, via the Dallas Morning News. “I’m the most surprised person in Mobile, or the country, that we haven’t been back to and competed in a Super Bowl. But I know firsthand that you can go from the outhouse to the penthouse, and I’ve experienced it. Consequently, that fact has always driven me to know that it’s just around the corner. There’s a pony in here somewhere.”
