Jerry Jones says he believes safety Roy Williams' troubles can be solved, not by moving to linebacker, but rather a simple adjustment in scheme. "We probably need to use him doing the things he does the best; probably need to depart from our scheme a little bit and use him in a more effective way," Jones said. "In order to do that, you'd have to do your coverage differently."

I will like to thank a couple people.

1st most - Jerry Jones for saying what I have said along with the other people defending RW has been saying all along.

2nd - Everyone else on this board who has stood by myside and RW in his defense.

I doubt it, but I hope all you anti-RW guys will look at what JJ said and finally understand it. You people obviously didnt listen to myself and the others but now maybe you will since its coming from (edit) the top.

The question is why has it taken so incredibly long to figure out something that's been known by everyone else NOT named Zimmer?

But no.. Zimmer's never the problem.

So Jerry also says RW can't cover. Not sure what you're defending here.

dont hurt yourself patting your back, there are things they can do to help him out with his flaws, sure a pass rush/ a free safety who can cover more then his shadow/ and a creative DC.

he's just stating the obvious, dont you think he works on his pass coverage in the off-season? hasn't helped much. things need to change to show his strenghts instead of his flaws, when they do the whole defense will be better

How many times have I said that the last few weeks. You HAVE to put players in a position to make plays not be a liability. The stupidity shown by BP and our D coaches with the way they use Roy sometimes is painful to watch.

we've done that, and it doesnt make any difference

you could put Reggie White, Harvey Martin, Mean Joe Green and Randy White all in the primes on the field with Zimmer as DC, and he'd find a way to make them look like undrafted free agents

Roy Williams should be a complete Safety and learn how to play the position like D. Woodson and Ronnie Lott!

I don't think you give players a huge contract that don't fit into your scheme. There are very few players you change your whole scheme to showcase, specially on defense. Lawrence Taylor comes to mind. Williams is not that kind of talent. I don't think he is a top 10 safety in the league if you count SS and FS. When a professional player has a flaw in his game as big as Roy Williams does it will be exploited.

Ok, homer - Polamalu, A. Wilson, Milloy, Sharper at strong safety are better all around and at free- Reed, Sanders, Dawkins, Williams.

Off the top of my head those are 8 that I think are better all around safeties. Again, off the top of my head and that doesn't include a bunch that are probably as good.

My point is that they gave top 3 money to a guy who lacks ability to cover the pass which is 75% of what he is asked to do. The safety position in Dallas is an area that teams see a mismatch in the passing game. Williams doesn't just get burned by the Moss' of the league he gets beat by teams third and fourth WR's and their TE's on a regular basis. He hits like a truck and is as good as anyone against the run, but average at best in pass coverage.

Opinion, opinion, opinion.

This is like me saying chocolate is better than vanilla.

Speaking of vanilla - your whole "arguement" IS vanilla.

Speaking of vanilla - our entire defensive scheme IS vanilla.

Funny how no one complained about our secondary after the Colts game and I will tell you why - it was the only well coached game by the defensive coaching staff.

That game showed our potential and a few points that stood out which was different in that game than the rest:

1. We moved Ware around the field (allowed to rush from different sides).
2. We allowed our CBs to cover their WRs down the field (didnt put our safeties on islands with WRs).
3. RW was floating more (IE. his hit on Utect (sp?)).

So. As JJ said it is in our schemes. I dont get why the owner knows this nad our coaches dont. Hopefully JJ will make this a point to the staff and demand more creativity.

As said before... A good coach uses a system that brings out his players talents, not a system to exploit their weaknesses (Yes, thats obvious but obviously our coaches dont know this).

Note: Pat Watkins can be our answer. There is no way, I repeat no way, we draft a FS in the 1st round. Please throw that thought out. If anything, we make a move in FA. Also, lets see how Parrish turns out. I still think Watkins is our answer. Two key things happened that IF went differently he would still be starting:

1. Greg Ellis wiffing McNabb on the 70 yard pass to Baskett.
2. Roy getting tripped by a ref in the endzone (bomb to Plax).

Yes they are IFs but they could have easily gone our way.

You are treading in very dangerous water with this statement.
