Honest question: If Zeke is totally innocent, why hasn't he sued the girl for libel/slander?
How do you know he won't? He can't present to a judge the damage her actions has caused him until it happens. Impending suspension and the potential for lost pay are not actionable events in a lawsuit. Suing her is something that can only happen once the damage is actually done.

The NFL (who among them are leading this charge I haven't got a clue) will look like utter ***** if and when Zeke is shown to be innocent. It will be seen that in their quest to be tough on domestic violence, where in the past they were seen as soft and compromising when there was legitimate evidence for it, e.g., Ray Rice, Josh Brown, etc., they effectively railroaded an innocent potential star of the league just to be PC.

Could not have said it better myself.

In reality, it doesn't matter about the money. It's about the perception. If he is truly innocent, he needs to fight not just the league, but the girl herself. If he gets a judgement in his favor, but doesn't collect a penny, he still wins. His name would be cleared. He gets money not from the girl, but through endorsements from companies who won't touch him otherwise.
Correct! He needs to make two things clear to the powers that be and the public...
1) discredit his accusers credibility
2) discredit the 4 person advisory panel's credibility

#1 begets #2

Maybe Lisa Friel. And she apparently couldn't vouch for the reliability the accuser. Heck of a job.

The league also had questions about Thompson’s credibility. NFL investigator Lisa Friel found that Thompson “repeatedly misled investigators,” according to the Star-Telegram.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/08/14/cowboys-ezekiel-elliott-domestic-violence-suspension-appeal

She lied to police. She tampered with a witness. The NFL's investigator states she misled them.

The NFL finds her credible because of metadata that is easily edited.

Why would anybody take four games if they were acquitted? What kinda goofy logic is that? No games period if I'm acquitted

Burden of proof in court is much more in favour of accused. If the police think there is enough evidence to convict than I think a four gamer is adequate with the option of appealing of course.

why should you suspend if a player is acquitted? What if the jury/judge says, I am not just acquitting on law, I believe you did not do the crime.

Just because a person is acquitted in a criminal trial doesn't necessarily mean they are innocent as you know.
Ultimately the player should have the right to appeal should they receive the shorter suspension and the appeal should be conducted by an independent panel of three.
The idea is to make the rule as transparent as possible with a clear policy and no suspensions if a player isn't charged.
