GMs don't regularly talk to the media, do they?

Tex Schramm had his own TV show every week what do you mean they don't? they do in Dallas since day 1 of this franchise. I can recall Tex using the America's team label despite the fact Landry hated that but no one cared, fans ate it up even though Tom didn't. Yet with Jerry he says anything and some go into a frenzy. I think it is funny how he can pull people strings

No benefit, just responding to a question.

As far as being asked so has Jason been asked this and Jerry is owner and GM it is not strange at all for any GM to talk to the media.

.

You're looking for angles.

I don't see the benefit of sharing that piece of knowledge. It's not really any more than that, and I'm not asking anyone to agree with me.

Jerry, we already know you are a football idiot, no need to remind us on a daily basis

I agree no benefit just answering a question asked of him, that is not out of the ordinary in Dallas be it today or when the franchise started. I'm not looking for any angle I just think many make a bigger deal out of Jerry saying anything. Jerry trading 2 1srt rd picks for Roy Williams that is a big deal and something he should have been raked over the coals and was, but for anyone to be upset (not saying you) because Jerry said his team is ready and used the bye week for Philly is really a non-issue not even a secret Garrett had made a similar comment after Jacksonville game

You mentioned Tex Schramm. Tex Schramm is no longer a GM. Furthermore, you only mentioned ONE. If this is a common practice, I'm expecting more than Tex Schramm and an example from the thrilling days of yesteryear.
I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck, but my question still stands: Do GMs regularly talk to the media?

I mentioned Tex because other than Jerry we have only had 2 GM in the history of this franchise. Do other GM talk? sure they do, they clearly do not get the same attention as Jerry does and main reason is because there is no public reaction

But the big deals come because the little deals are ignored. Problems generally don't start as big problems.. They start as little problems. That's why some of us bemoan Jerry talk about issues like this. We have a fundamental problem with the owner speaking out on every issue because it appears he's revealing information that shouldn't be revealed. And it seems that the protocol would be for the coach to reveal this information, not the owner. And if the owner is going to continue to do that, then we're going to exercise our right to say we don't agree with him doing so. So what if it doesn't do any good. Truth be told, none of what we say has any impact on the Cowboys so we might as well just shut the forum down. I don't mean to be flippant, but the board exists for us to vent.

So who are these GMs who are revealing details about their teams? You gave me a specific name in Tex. I'm asking you for specific names of other GMs who do the same thing Jerry does. I mean if Jerry isn't the only one, surely you can give me a few names of GMs who are speaking on behalf of the franchise as it relates to football matters.

Jerry saying what Garrett had already mentioned after the Jacksonville game is not a secret it is not a problem big or little. The issue is not Jerry it is those who get upset when he says anything. That is your problem, it is not a Cowboy problem or Garrett problem. It is nit picking over the most meaningless BS

Fact is anything Jerry says is mocked ridiculed and bemoaned by the same people even when it amounts to nothing, it is a way for those who dislike Jerry to be heard. Have at it.

Details about their team? he said they used the bye week to get ready for Philly as did Garrett that is not a big deal, only a moron would think Dallas did not use the bye for Philly since it was coming up after the NY game when the hell did you figure Dallas would game plan for Philly. Hell I said it before Dallas even played in London, why because it was the only time they had to put in the work.

As for GM making statement I have heard Newsom in Balt make statement about their team, Rick Smith in Houston and this does not even touch owners like Kraft or Irsay as well as others

And you're getting upset over something that, frankly, is none of your business. So what if I get upset about it? Who died and made you KING OF EMOTIONS or LORD OF MESSAGE BOARD CONTENT?
This board is for venting. If you don't like me expressing my opinion, then there's the door.
Besides, I've been told venting us therapeutic. :)

Fact is anything Jerry says is mocked ridiculed and bemoaned by the same people even when it amounts to nothing, it is a way for those who dislike Jerry to be heard. Have at it.

Well, THANK YOU for your permission to vent. I'm glad that you're allowing me to express my opinion. Thank you for your generosity, kindness and charity in establishing a board that allows me to voice my concerns. I want to thank you also for giving me a mind to think critically, to express myself when I disagree with a particular action and, well, for the very air that I breathe. Seeing how this is the season for Thanksgiving, it's the least I can do to pay my utter respect and show my eternal gratefulness that you would allow someone as insignificant as I to grace the board YOU ESTABLISHED to express my feeble opinions. Oh, wise and wonderful one, how GREAT THOU ART!

I'm not how fans want to react is how they feel, I think it is pretty petty for people to nit pick but if that is what some choose to do fine. Maybe those views would hold more weight if it were not used any and everything he talks.

You can look up pretty much any GM in the NFL and they usualy do a radio show or TV interview weekly discussing their team. But as a cowboys fan I understand its hip to hate Jerry Jones.

Ahh, not the old "ONLY A MORON Would ..." trump card.
It's kind of like telling your team, "We're going to win the game." Every team does that. But when you spell it out publicly, that can be perceived any number of ways.
But, uh, only a MORON would think otherwise.

As for GM making statement I have heard Newsom in Balt make statement about their team, Rick Smith in Houston and this does not even touch owners like Kraft or Irsay as well as others

Well, duh. I've heard other GMs speak too. But that's not what I'm asking you. Jerry ROUTINELY talks about football issues, who's starting, what we plan to do, etc. Things and discussions that coaches generally speak about and discuss. No, Newsome doesn't routine speak on those issues. And I'd like you to produce a quote or two from Kraft or Irsay or Newsome or Smith where they're talking about what we generally do, who should be playing, etc. Either do so or stop wasting my time with generalities.

Have it your way, jerry is so wrong because he said we were ready for Philly and game planned them over the bye. Damn we have no chance now our secret is out. Oh my what will we do.

Well, it's not like Philly is gonna go: "They practiced for us? Well, I guess we better go ahead and practice too."

I seriously doubt they could do any more than they already are to prepare.

So what if you feel it's petty? Who died and made you the arbitrator of people's feelings? This is a message board. You have all types of people expressing all types of things. Your problem is you don't like people who criticize Jerry Jones. Well, either you can counter or you can ignore. I asked you a SIMPLE question, and you tried to turn this into some pissing match. I simply asked you if other GMs talk regularly like Jerry does. You got all snarky, so I here we are.

If you disagree, then say so. But you have no power or authority to tell me or anyone what we can or can't talk about (within the guidelines of course) and how we shouldn't or shouldn't feel. You say some people need to get over their pettiness. I say some people need to get over their paternalism in thinking they somehow get the right to dictate how and what people should or shouldn't feel about their favorite team. Just saying. :)

Except that's not what I said. That's YOUR inference. I think the less said the better. Why say anything, as someone asked? Even so, who the HECK ARE YOU to tell people what they can't or can't think or what is or isn't petty? If I want to talk about something big or small, I have that right as a member of this forum. If you don't like it, you can criticize or ignore it. But I'm going to call you out - and anybody else, except a moderator, wink, wink - if you decide you need to be the arbitrator of discussion and the moderator of people's feelings.

If I don't like something Jerry Jones did or think he should keep his mouth closed, whether it'll matter or not, I'll do so. If you don't like it, fine. But I don't live by your standards nor your feelings. Thank you. :)
