He just cannot get enough.

How about looking at it in a substantive light. Wade doesn't want to engage the media beyond the local beat writers so Jerry is going to man up and respond to the pointed or antagonizing questions in a national venue.

Sounds good, but his track record doesn't support it. Besides, I'd be willing to bet Wade wasn't even asked.

I love Jerry but I wouldn't be overly disappointed if he just chilled out and kept a low profile for a while and stopped contributing to what has become a three ring circus.

hope he points out the obvious...like

** After two more losses Red will be the coach.

** Wade phillips is a very good defensive coordinator...no more.

** Team desperately lacks spirited defensive leader.

** Something is wrong with Flozell Adams.

No, he'll maintain how he has faith in Wade to get it turned around, that we have good players who know how important this game is, that we've got a lot of players hurt but we're going to suck it up, yadda yadda yadda.

Nothing substantial, meaningful or purposeful. Just another opportunity to get face time.

Although it would be a trip for them to ask him how come Wade isn't there instead of him...

I just don't get it with some of you guys commenting on Jerry's need to have publicity and or face time. He is the GM as well as owner. He has a right to address and respond to the coaching and player issues. Of course he is not going to meltdown and declare that heads will roll publically. He has to communicate with restraint to not antagonize the situation further.

Jerry is already well known and has accomplished much in the NFL. It is all about striving to maintain the value, quality and positive aspects of the Cowboys brand. Jerry knows that at 66 years of age he can't run it forever - this franchise will be transitioned to Stephen Jones probably in a few years.

Jerry is a fan of football, played college ball and has upgraded this franchise in the aggregate. Whatever ego gratification is going to be derived will NOT be from performing in front of the camera. Don't forget he is continuously marketing this team and also has to do damage control in the public venue. Some of you conveniently confuse ego with promotion.

Name another GM - just one - who comments or gives opinions, especially on a weekly basis and throughout the week, on who will play or how a player is performing in practice, etc. Those discussions and comments are given by the HC. The only issues GMs comment on are player eligibility or job status of the HC issues. In other words, in light of fines, suspensions, and the like, will this player be available to play or we will or might be looking to replace the HC. Or the HC issue is one I won't discuss. Something along those lines.

He said immediately after the Rams game Wade would not be fired this season. What more is there to say?

Winning accomplishes this. Nothing he can say will do that. And Jerry knows this. Which is why after three 5-11 seasons, he hired a HC to be a HC and stepped into the background.

See my previous answer concerning winning. Nothing promotes the Cowboys like on-field success.

And absolutely Jerry wants to be in front of the camera. Would you tell someone to "act" like they are talking to you precisely because you knew you would be on camera? Even if you were not part of the discussion?

Would you hire someone to do a job and at every turn undermine their authority and capability of doing so?

Do you honestly think Jerry has anything to say that will be "damage control" or that will carry more weight because it's coming from him and not the HC?

His being a fan and having played college football has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the amount of appearances on radio and tv he makes in lieu of his HC.

Yes, it is ego. Pacman is suspended. Wade's job is safe. So what exactly is the reason he is coming on? To say what? Those things we would hear from a HC I'll bet. Which has nothing to do with promotion.

Cerrato if the Skins has his own radio show

Savage of the Browns has a weekly radio gig

Colts Bill Polian has a weekly radio show

Scott Pioli of the Pats does weekly radio appearances

Carl Peterson of the chiefs has a weekly radio show

Mike Tannenbaum of the jets has a weekly radio spot

Ozzie Newsome of the Ravens has a radio show weekly

Jerry Reese of the Giants does weekly radio

Mike Reinfeldt of Tenn has a weekly radio show

So basically the answer to your question is virtually every GM in the NFL comments and gives opinions weekly. They also do TV. You just see Jerry more because hello we are Americas team and you pay attention when its a Dallas players, coach, owner etc

When has the media ever asked a question only once

I love how everyone thinks Jerry was absent during the Parcells years
