If Haloti Ngata was available for a measley 4th & 5th, Lesean McCoy for Kiko Alonso and Jimmy Graham for a 1st (and Max Unger), then Jerry needs to put on his Trader Jimmy hat and start trolling for opportunities too.

Start with FS Harrison Smith. The young playmaker is on the verge of stardom, Smith would be the pefect center fielder for the Cowboys and if the Cowboys can sign Hardy, then give up a first for this kid to shore up the middle of the defense.

Then go after Jets' DE Quinton Coples.

And what exactly are we supposed to give up? Draft picks? No way. Ngata's play has declined as his salary increased. Our 4th last year was LB Hitchens who played well as a rookie and WR Street who the coaches really like. Our drafts have been super the past few years. Why mess with that? I'm keeping my draft picks. If not draft picks, then you have to give up players for a trade. Any players you care to part with? There is not many on the roster I would care to give up in a trade.

Just give up the Harrison Smith thing. The vikings have no reason and no intentions of trading him. Spare yourself the undo anguish and humiliation.

Humiliation?!? For what, suggesting a trade? Either you guys take things way too seriously, or you are completely unhinged. I don't allow people who are unable to conceive or decipher unconventional solutions to impact me or my ideas. I built my livelihood on creative options and development. Not going to cry if I swing and miss, I keep on keeping on.

After we trade for Harrison Smith and Coples let's call the Raiders and see if they want to play Guess What's Behind Our Back and if they can't, they have to give us Khalil Mack...

I suppose other teams are deeply focused on the unbargain trades, right?

Neither Hitchens or Street come close to providing the impact that having Ngata in the middle of our Front 7 would produce. Ngata is a 5 time pro bowler and SB champion who is still one of the best at his position. 4th and 5th is bargain for a player of his caliber. As for the cap space, Ngata will make 8.5M in 2015. That's less than what they will pay for Carr. So if Ravens do not agree to swap players (and picks), then Cowboys can literally give Carr to another team with cap space. Trades are certainly not easy and require some creativity and willingness to take chances but after all the activity on this single day, I am shocked at all the naysayers and simple minded responses.

I built my livelihood on creative options and development. .

The real creative option would be that we focus on un-bargain solutions. Sometimes you have to think outside the triangles.

It looked to me like you were getting all worked up when people were explaining to you the fault in your logic.

And for the record, I don't think I'm unhinged but you may need to put that to a forum vote!

But look at the original post. Ngata is the only "bargain" trade, Buffalo gave up a good young defensive player and giving up a first round pick and an all pro center for Graham isnt exactly a heist either.

I agree. That Seattle/New Orleans trade was not some cheap bargain deal.

Same reason why these other teams are getting rid of players - not able to sign them long term or trying to rebuild their team with picks. It's not rocket science, Vikes are far from contention and they are in re-build mode.

Ngata was traded because he's got a year left on his deal at a high cap charge. The idea that the Ravens are going to rebuild with the 3rd day picks they received is laughable.

J.J. Wilcox is developing into a pretty solid FS. I would give him at least another year before throwing away picks for players.

Bowles will not let Coples get away for a bargain price..

You have to pay those players.

Why not just sign free agents with that money?

NNgata 8.5M. Can't you get a drastic upgrade to Hayden for 8.5M and keep the draft picks?

Harrison Smith will be due for a big contract after the season. Why not just sign McCourty is your spending big on a Safety?

The Cowboys don't have anybody like LeSean McCoy to trade away.

Seattle paid a big price to get Graham. They gave up a Pro Bowl Center that has 2 years on a low contract and a 1st round pick.

Of course you do. Just like you have to pay for FAs too.

Is there a player of Ngata's caliber that we can easily acquire? 4th & 5th round picks may seem steep, but Ngata has more value than those 2 mid round picks which are not sure things. Everyone knows what Ngata is capable of, those picks can just as easily be misses than hits. We all know that the addition of Ngata would be of immense impact to our DL. Immediately.

Harrison Smith will be due for a big contract after the season. Why not just sign McCourty is your spending big on a Safety?

Is McCourty available? He was signed last I heard. And Jerry can worry about Harrison Smith's contract next season, this season should be building on and moving toward a SB.

The Cowboys don't have anybody like LeSean McCoy to trade away.

Cowboys do not have a talent like McCoy they no longer want, true. But Detroit did not need to trade away a key player to acquire Ngata. Some would say Detroit did not get full value for McCoy as well. It is all about probing for value and opportunity and striking a deal that works for your team. The deal does not have to be universally applauded, it just has to make sense for your team. Vikings have a value for Smith (as well as a value for a starting WR, OL, etc.), a good trader will find out what it takes to make a deal and if that price is doable. Everything has a price.

Seattle paid a big price to get Graham. They gave up a Pro Bowl Center that has 2 years on a low contract and a 1st round pick.

Seriously? Seattle made out like bandits. They got a prolific receiver to pair off with with one of the best rushing attacks in the league. All it took was an injury prone and inconsistent Max Unger and a first round pick (practically a 2nd rounder). Seattle's OL struggled last season, so they will be investing in picks to retool their trenches anyway. Seattle would rather pay for a proven multi-year pro bowler in his prime, a player considered top 3 at his position, making their offense more explosive, without deviating from their game plan. There is no WR, never mind TE, who would add that element to their offense in the draft.
