This is one of the problems of Jerry feeling the need to have his own radio show. Dez I'm sure puts enough pressure on himself as-is that he doesn't need this sort of thing in the national media. If anything I'd think Dez is a player you have to "protect from himself" in terms of potentially playing hurt.

This is probably going to be a game-time decision, if this is truly a feel thing for Dez.

I don't think JJ is making these comments without medical input. I read somewhere it will be about pain management, and that is probably what JJ is relaying. I think C-Hill is trying to make this sound like a shocking statement, and I don't really think it is. Listen if the bone is healed he is going to experience some pain in it for a bit. But lets not go overboard with JJ's comments are nutty... His delivery might be off, but its really not a big deal.

Jerry says a lot of things not all come about. I think coaches will get a good sense of where Dez is and what he is capable of through out this week. That more than anything I think will determine if Dez is a go or not.

while i'm sure it will be up to dez to say how he feels, i'm also sure the doctors will have some sort of say. i doubt dez is feeling the pressure of having to make this decision all by his cold lonesome self while wolves chase after him through the night in fear of his coming back too soon due to said undo pressure of having an owner who for the love of unholy norse gods, has a radio show where he terrorizes his players with suggestions.

I've been expecting Dez to go this week. Now, I'm leaning towards dirt in the water from Jerry here. Putting it on Dez is about the least cautious thing they could do.

No matter what, Dez isn't going if the break isn't fully healed. And if it's fully healed, there would be no stopping him. It's not like this is a soft tissue injury where you can't tell if it's ready or not. I'm thinking next week.

Oh well, at least we've got Butler and Street. :)

Completely agree. He must first, and foremost, be cleared by medical personnel. It then becomes a pain tolerance issue. If he is cleared and shows the ability to do what needs to be done in practice, he'll play. Otherwise, he won't.

“I do think that the combination of all the work he’s done -- which has been extraordinary -- as well as some of the additional procedures that we’re doing, give us a lot of confidence that if he’s comfortable to putting it down and driving off on his foot, then we’re comfortable with him playing,” Jones said.
Whether he’s comfortable is going to depend on the next few days, to hear it from Jones. The Cowboys will monitor what Bryant is able to do these next few days at practice, and they’ll want to be satisfied that he is comfortable moving around on-field.
Jones added that there’s no timetable for determining what to do. It’s simply an issue of waiting to see how Dez feels.
“Everybody will get a feel for it, but more importantly he’ll get a feel for it,” he said. “He’ll have to decide, does he push off on it? This is strictly ‘Do you feel comfortable making your cuts?’ If you do, then it’s on go. If you’re not, then we’ll wait a week.”

I don't see this as Jones pressuring Dez. Pretty much what I would expect to hear from anyone within the organization. Dez is working and what he is able to do or not do will end up determining if he can go or not. If he can then he can play if he can't then they will wait another week and see how that goes. Clearly Jones, the Cowboys and fans would like to get Dez back as soon as possible and I'm sure Dez is itching to go but think everyone understands that if he can't go then he can't go.

We'll see. I know Dez is anxious to play, and he got his long term contract, but I'm sure he knows, along with his agent, that if it isn't ready he could be out for the year. So, I'm not worried about Dez being rushed back.

As much as I want ot throw up the X again, it's going to have to wait another week.

I just don't see it. Why risk re-breaking when you're a 1/2 game out of first place?

If he plays and he hurts his foot again and he's done for the year that's not going to be on Jerry--

But you can bet heads will roll on the medical staff.

Jerry's playing with house money when he makes comments like that.
