This is one of the problems of Jerry feeling the need to have his own radio show. Dez I'm sure puts enough pressure on himself as-is that he doesn't need this sort of thing in the national media. If anything I'd think Dez is a player you have to "protect from himself" in terms of potentially playing hurt.

I think what Jerry is saying is great. As a fan I love getting this info. This means the bone is healed and the doctors have cleared him. Now its just a mental obstacle for Dez to get over. Which can be a huge obstacle for some IE Derrick Rose.

The only way to really test it is to just go for it and even if it feels okay at first, it still might give after a number of stresses in wrong spot. I think he shouldn't start until the Seattle game.

If the bone wasn't healed enough, he wouldn't even be on the practice field. Obviously, he has been cleared by medical personnel. So, it basically comes down to pain tolerance, just like Jerry said.

If he plays and he hurts his foot again and he's done for the year that's not going to be on Jerry--

But you can bet heads will roll on the medical staff.

Jerry's playing with house money when he makes comments like that.

Again I don't think JJ is making comments like this without knowing the medical input. He' basically saying it's up to Dez and his comfort at this point. Doctors are not going to clear him and let him play. So I assume by these comments they have stated as much, now it's up to Dez and what he can handle as far as pain.

Playing or not, keeping the Giants guessing is a big deal. Game planning with Dez playing is alot different than game planning without him. Also, game planning for a QB and RB that they have not faced in this system is going to be difficult as well.

Unless we aren't even past the point of a doctor's decision, he has to play.

At 75%, Dez will still draw attention that opens up the run game and the middle for other receivers.
At 75%, Dez can still use his body and fight for a contested throw in the red zone.

If the doctors have cleared him, he needs to suit up no matter how he feels. Just being on the field, even if he doesn't or can't go 100% in and out of cuts, has a huge impact on the offense.

Jerry and Dez don't get to make decisions about playing if his foot isn't healed....so I have no worries on that end. Doctors say healed, he plays, even if he stinks because that helps the team for minimum of first half. Doctors say not healed, then he doesn't suit up.

Yeah I agree - in fact there's a doctor in here who said they'll do an MRI late in the week to see if the calcium has fully taken and the bone is secure. If the bone is good, if he can cut and if he can manage the pain he should play.

I understand there's an agenda against Jerry, Garrett, etc., but anyone who thinks Dez will play before the doctors clear him and Dez feels like he's ready is naive to say the least.

People get so mad with Jerry talking that they never stop to realize that he's simply regurgitating what the team coaches, trainers and doctors have told him. It's like everyone thinks he's walking into the locker room and declaring, "Dez is healed!" If anyone wants Dez back on the field most of all it would be Dez.

The funny thing is that if this news had come from anyone other than a Jones or Garrett, no one would be questioning anything other than posting things like, "I hope he's ready!" or "I hope they keep him out for 1 or 2 more games." Instead, it's "OMG! Jerry said something .. must .. ahh .. ttack .. now!" :D

By all means though, continue with the agenda .. it must live on because we know that despite 25+ years, one day Jerry will retire or die and the agenda will be complete!

I don't know I would think the giants will plan on Dez being there regardless of what is being said. If Dez does not play it is not a big adjustment in what they will do on defense.

Good post. Jerry has always been and still is the first one to advocate playing a guy whether he's ready or not.

Yeah, most of the GMs in the east are thinking, "yeah, Gerald, push Dez out on the field prematurely."

Yea, crap on the man that knew enough about the NFL to intelligently lead this team from the walkout to a top offensive line and what is developing into a very strong defense.

His scouts, head coach, and family members including Stephen, at top notched. Yep, a lot of fools to be found there.
