I'll be surprised if Flo comes back. And the last thing I want is to see Bigg playing LT.

Why? He's playing well. Jerry obviously wants him back. All signs are pointing to him being back.

All true except for Erik Williams. He was close to 330 lbs. and was the most dominating tackle in the league before his auto accident. Don't get me wrong, Davis needs to stay put at guard, but not just because of his size. He's just more suited to play guard and use his size.

I don't know if Davis can play LT or not. I think there is a better chance that he might be able to move to RT and have Columbo move to LT as opposed to Davis at LT. I guess we'll see what happens. We do have two first rounders so who knows. A guy like Joe Staley could be the kind of player we target this year.

He couldn't in Arizona. Not saying he can't here. But his track record suggests he can't.

He's already making $5 million a year. I don't think he's going to command much more than that (very few 33+ LTs are), so it's not like we'd have to stomach some massive jump in cap numbers.

If he keeps playing like this for a few years, he's worth whatever he wants, if we can manage it.

There isn't a tackle in football playing better than Flozell right now, IMO. Bring your pass-rushers from far and near, NFL - Flozell Adams will neutralize them.

If I were Jerry I would Sign Flo and tell Him that to expect to be moved inside to Koiser's spot. Then I would let the youngsters battle it out to see who your LT is going to be. Could you imagine our interior Big, Gurode, Flo. I could probably average 5 yards a carry running up the gut with them in front of me.

When you get huge players like Bigg, they cannot change direction quickly. Nowhere near as quick as a guy like freeny. Guys like Freeny can get them going one way, then change directions and blow by them before they can move back. Inertia.

Anyone with half a brain could look at Davis and tell that he wouldn't be a good left tackle. What an idiot move.

it takes nothing to set people off here

before everyone goes ape, consider a few things:

1) they either have just, or about to start negiotiating with Adams...they dont want to seem desperate to resign him, so they flaot it out there that have a Plan B

2) I'm quite sure if Adams did leave, they wouldnt move Davis unless they had no other options (ie, niether McQuistan or Free were ready, no other f/a option etc etc)

even if Davis ended up at LT, it would likely be temporary

File this post under the category: "Duh."

Of course they're not going to move Davis to LT. It would be idiotic.

Anyone have a list of LTs that are going to be FAs at the end of the season?

LT free agents are very expensive, no list needed.:star:

if i could sign him for 5 or 6 mil a year for 3 real years and maybe some fluff years in there to help his agents ego i would do it.maybe 10-12 up front.then i would continue to develope free and mcq and let colombo walk after next year. he will be expensive because of his age i think. i flo won't play ball them i let him walk and put mcq there, or maybe free but i think free can be a star at rt

I just don't see 6'7, 340 pound Adams playing until he's 35. I think this is one of the times where you just kind of let go of a good player, and get younger. I'd love to see him play 3 more years - but it hinders the development of younger players, and he's GOING to be expensive. Anyone who thinks the guy will sign a $5m/year contract is probably not thinking right. The guy is 32, the Cowboys(currently) are 8-1, a large part of that is due to the offensive lines play - and more specifically, his play... meanwhile, this will be his LAST OPPORTUNITY at MONEY in the pro's...

I just don't see it.

He's not going to sign a $5 million/year contact unless Jerry rubs his belly while sliding Donuts down his throat.. The contracts where players take less money than market value are pretty rare....

Well if Flo plays this good because it's a contract year, then Franchise him for 1 year, and effectively it's a contract year all over again. Short term deal, win win.

How often can you Franchise a player? I think there are 2 levels of the "franchise" tag. One level you get a 1st rounder if someone signs him away, the other, you get 2 1st rounder but pay a whack more no?

What is the "transition player" tag and how does it work?

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but if Adams has an agent worth his salt there is no way he will allow his LT client to play on a team with a contract smaller than the teams RG. Especially if that RG has never been to the Pro Bowl when his client has been to 3 and probably 4 after this year.

If anything, Jerry is showing his 1st card by talking about moving Bigg to LT. As a matter of fact, he most likely signed Bigg with those intentions. If Bigg proves capable then the contract he signed is justified. (It wouldn't look as huge if he played LT since they are usually the highest paid on the line...)
If not, he stays where he is and we either draft a young guy (Michael Oher; Ole Miss) or play one of the youngins we have.

I hate to say it but unless we win the Super Bowl and Flo goes for the "You see what they do in NE, that's what we're trying to do here.", he is most likely gone to ATL or somewhere...

I watched all of Arizona's games on the NFL Network this offseason waiting to see some disaster of LT play by Davis. I just didn't see it. He was extremely solid, and looked no worse than Flozell. Allowing 8 sacks when your team is one of the NFL's most pass happy offenses and usually playing from a huge deficits when the defense has no obligation to stay honest to the run is not a crime. I'm not sure anyone has really evaluated him there, or they're just repeating what they've heard over and over again based on stigma. His stigma said he was mediocre at best as a guard, at least that's what the Arizona folks will tell you to justify why a great physical talent couldn't succeed in their horrible franchise. He's plenty athletic enough to play left tackle. He was a consensus Top 5 draft pick for a reason.

Anyways, I like Flozell but I have absolutely no desire to pay him Pro Bowl left tackle money (and someone on the open market will) You can't just look at how they're playing today, you have to project how they'll play through the length of the contract. Jerry got into a lot of trouble resigning and extending contracts of players well heading into their twilight years in the mid-late 90's and it wrecked havoc with the salary cap when they're signing bonuses were accelerated when their bodies wouldn't allow them to play anymore at a high level. (Tolbert, Novacek, Haley, Aikman).
