Every NFL team deals with this funny thing called a "salary cap" which prevents rich owners from spending as much as they want on players.
In 2011, the Cowboys were awful in the secondary and awful in the OL. Since our offense was STILL highly productive (thanks to our terrific QB) we decided to spend much of our limited resources on fixing the secondary. Not a bad strategy at the time and the majority of fans were on board at the time.
So unless you can prove that you were NOT on board with the Carr/Claiborne additions it's a bit silly to throw Jerry under the bus for the 2012 offseason. Especially since our D had zero chance for success after being completely ravaged by injuries.
Oh, and we spent a top-10 draft pick on an OT in 2011 and paid a ton of money to keep our other OT when he was a productive player. So much for the absurd notion that Jerry "keeps ignoring the OL."
Sometimes I really wonder what fans think a GM does. Why is Jerry Jones, a former college OL who's spent the last 23+ years owning and running the Dallas Cowboys, any less qualified to run an NFL team than some of these other GMs with far less experience? He relies on his scouts and coaches for input just like every other GM, despite the popular perception that he's some tyrant who lords over the team with independent decision after independent decision. No wonder Hostile doesn't come around anymore.
