Jerry says there was no penalty on Ferguson OPI

He's wrong. Go back and examine the last 25 years of penalty stats. The Cowboys are nearly ALWAYS in the top 5 for most calls against. No matter what coaches, players, schemes, it doesn't matter. All of which has been changed many times over, and yet the penalty calls against Dallas remain consistent.

Meanwhile, GB and Pittsburgh are nearly ALWAYS in the bottom 5. Go ahead. See for yourself at any of the various stats sites.

It most certainly does NOT "even out over time". The league has its darlings and dogs, and the refs clearly understand this.

For example, the Cowboys have had ZERO seasons in the last 25 where they were called for 80 penalties or less. The Packers and Steelers both had more than 10 such seasons in that time.
If you did the research I believe you.

How did Jerry come to this conclusion?

Did he replay the play over and over or react like a fan in the stands.

I'm going to guess... not.......... I don't think I've ever see him in the owners box looking at a laptop or a phone.

Too bad Jerry isn't making the calls on the field

Yes

Tough owners/coaches: " I don't get into calls. The calls even out We got to play better...that's what I'm worried about"

(I don't expect you to understand this... so don't spend much time reading this)
intelligent people call BS when they're asked about BS. Others whine about said BS on the internet.

so responding to questions with an accurate assessment is now whining and weakness. Got it.
Dude is a cowboys, lakers, yankees, and tide fan. The textbook definition of a casual follower.

You really didn't expect actual common sense involving sports talk, did you?

So long as officiating has a human element to it mistakes will be made; every official has a different interpretation of the rules. But be that as it may, the OPI penalty is not the reason Dallas lost the game…their defense was unable to stop the Lions offense and the offense settled for FGs and was unable to protect Dak.
I think because Aubrey is pretty much automatic from almost anywhere it can take away from Shotty’s aggressiveness and opts to take a sure 3 points instead of gambling on 4th down.
And to be fair, it’s not like Dallas has never been the beneficiary of bogus calls.

The call came down from Vegas!
You know I try not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I caught the Steelers Ravens game today and they took away a late Ravens TD.. If you have a chance check it out.

It’s not bias. It’s not favoring one team over another. It’s the fact we don’t have 16 crews who know the definition of pass interference. What is “materially hindering your opponent’s opportunity to catch the ball”?
10 crews would call this DPI. 5 crews would call nothing. And 1 crew would call it OPI.
We need consistency. We don’t have it!

I think Dungy's response if definitely more realistic that Daniels. I mean, if you want to keep Dallas out of the playoffs then you stick with the safety call and call them offsides even if they got back. This is just another example of NFL crews failing. Dallas just seems to get the ones who fail on an important call in a way that doesn't favor our team. Don't know why that is.

If the call goes the other way, then Detroit fans would be complaining that it was OPI or should have been no call. But as Dungy says, most of the time that is going to be called DPI. The odds are in their favor, and again, Dallas gets stuck with the bad call that officials usually are not going to make.

Now, it's doubtful we win if DPI gets called, but it could have made the end of the game a little more interesting.

What would you have said when they asked the question?
I already answered that on page 1 of this.

Same thing other coaches or owners say. Jerry is too old to think of things himself, but all he really has to do is just copy what other younger, less senile, and more successful owners and GMs do, and just repeat their responses or actions

Agreed. When you slow it down frame by frame, I can see where they could possibly see the OPI. It could have been a no call, or offsetting OPI/DPI.

But there is no way in hell, they watched that happen live and thought "100% OPI". I don't care what you say. Garbage call

We did benefit from the non safety and them not calling Thomas for an early jump. It goes both ways.

It's just funny as a homer, because it feels like every time we get flagged it negates a game changing play. Other teams it ends up in 5-10 yards lol

It cost us dearly.
I still don't think the defense makes a big stop there. They did get to the return to around the 45. But being up 7 compared to 3 is massive at the end of the game

But the thing is, if we score 7 there, they are likely trying to eat of the clock and trying not to make a mistake. With them being up 7, they had to freedom to be aggressive because even if we stop them and score, they will get another chance.

Oh yeah, we weren't going to win this game but it would have been closer. Lions were locked in. We weren't.

I sure did and it was correct as called. You don't get a 3rd foot down and the ball comes out before that, it is NOT a catch anywhere on the field. But this is the epitome of a lot of people complaining about ref calls. They don't even know the rules they're claiming weren't enforced correctly. How bass-ackwards is that? Emotion is a helluva drug!

That explains that......but what about the toe tapping while falling out of bounds? Is the fall considered a football move?

lol.. the video clearly shows Ferguson initiating contact and pulling the jersey, underneath the sleeve, to get open…. It’s DPI when the jersey is tugged, is a penalty when the offense player does it. Dungy needs to get his eyes checked
