Jerry thinks we underachieved this year

Thing is I like Hooker. Edging into JAG territitory, maybe.... but always seems solid and dependable...consistent in his own manner. It's almost like they are being coached to do this....weird. Too many of them are backing off attacking the ball...too often. Scared.

When I saw Jerry celebrating in the locker room after a win this year...like a child, or adult that totally missed any form of childhood happiness ...really hit home.

Deep down...Jerry misses the glory days every bit as much as we do. It reeked of a desperate, psychotic attempt be one of the boys and celebrate something more meaningful than some random regular season win.

Well...we're stuck with it, right? But I can't just talk about just Jerry, or even just the defense on and one and on and on. Everyone gets a piece of the pie!

The entire secondary is borderline jags but that’s probably because we don’t get consistent pressure and the scheme is garbage

Skelator and son have been the one consistent over that timeframe. And then these buffoons get on the radio and give us classic statements we can hold on to till next season .

Why bury a guy who hasn’t even finished his rookie season that was sabotaged by his GM before it even began.

Schotty's terrible playcalling, player usage, coaching hires and in-game situational decisions has cost the Cowboys 6 out of their 7 losses. He even admitted 2 weeks ago how his decisions contributed to "some losses". If you fail to see it, you simply are avoiding to do so.

Have you ever thought these players consistently play bad BECAUSE OF A LACK OF PROPER COACHING?

You always cover for the coaches, yet they keep failing. If the players don't need coaching up and instead should already be ready to play like professionals, then why have coaches?

The bigger problem are the coaches. Improve the coaching staff, the players will perform much better. Teams like the Patriots, Bears, Colts, Jaguars, Broncos and others are proving that.

I used to have that same train of thought..... I was watching numerous podcasts during the week... I don't remember who said it but someone said "Sure some of the stuff the coaches do are complete headscratchers. but when does the realization finally sink in that our players just aren't that good? These players are paid professionals. They shouldn't need to be coached like they're playing high school and college football. They know their position. They need to just do their jobs." I admit when I heard it (again, I wish I could remember who said it), I was like "Damn, I never really thought about it that way." No. I'm not giving our coaching staff an out. Eberflus should have never been hired. Schotty is learning the HC roll on the job like Jason Garrett did.

I've heard the question "Why can't the head coach pick his own assistants and coaching staff?" On the premise, I 1000% agree however with Schotty learning the HC roll on the job, I can't blame Jerry for picking his assistants... Don't get me wrong. When McCarthy, Phillips, Parcells, Campo, and Switzer were here, Jerry should have let them pick their own assistants however no, he had to stick his nose into things.

I also think our front office (from Jerry right down to the talent scouts) has something left to be desired. They're finding these players that (as stated) aren't that good.

One of the other things you asked is "If the players don't need coaching up and instead should already be ready to play like professionals, then why have coaches?" I think our DC is primarilly just a play caller drawing up schemes. But as for the other coaches, I can see your point. I think they are more on lines of assistants when it comes to practice being "encouragers".

Outside of our two dts on the interior, and EZE, overshown, everyone ought to be fair game. Not sold on Revel. Not seen enough to tell me he's going to be decent. We need 4 new dbs. Bland is overvalued. Not good. He's decent. Need better safeties. Eberflus needs fired for having our safeties on Islands covering wideouts. Horrible roster on the back 7. Even worse coaching

Since the need at LB is now desperate, we're going to have to go w/ Revel/Bland. Don't see any other way. If we go CBw/ either of our 1sts, then we're another year away. No more complicated than that.

I listened to the full interview today and I thought it was some of the most honest, candid and lucid stuff I've ever heard Jerry say. Worth a listen, even for people who despise Jerry.
