Jerry thinks Zeke could still break the record

I know the correct answer when asking Zeke himself or even the fans about the record is "no, it's a team sport, we have bigger goals in mind" and all that... but you better believe he wanted that record. Kinda sucks that he probably would've been able to get it had he played more in the second half against Detroit. He won't get it now so it's pointless to push for it.
thats how I see it too.
Thing is this was a record he could only break this year, cant do it rest of his career.
The record was clearly obtainable with a big run each game, and when he got the 55 yd run, I thought ok he can do it.
But 12 carries was all he got!

resting players is like playing to not lose.
if you get ahead and game is pretty much won then sure pull some of your starters.
Oakland was up 33-19 when carr got hurt, they should have been pulling the starters.
Thing is the d hadnt got to carr all game, just that 1 play . So that made it seem ok to leave him in there.

Yeah, I'd give him 10 carries again. Last week was the week to capitalize but Garrett wussed out. There is no point now. He's not getting 180 yds.

yea, it's important to him, the question is how important is it to him. jmo, I think fans are far more upset than him
Well he cant ever say publicly how he really feels about Det game and the record.
They all have to say the correct things publicly.

Do you really consider it "wussing out"?

I like Jerry.

But someone in his family - his sons, daughter, wife, grand kids, whatever needs to sit him down and tell him he needs to stop talking publicly. He's just embarrassing himself at this point.
In my opinion, his family has been talking with him about his behavior in public for many years and getting him to stop patrolling the sidelines is the best concession that he has ever agreed to. I doubt anything short of having him declared mentally incompetent would stop his media hoarding. He hasn't reached that stage yet regardless of varying public opinion.

To note, he needs 178 yards to break the record.

If he got his full compliment of carries in last weeks game, I think he definitely breaks it. By sitting him the rest of the game, they absolutely robbed him of it. I know some people don't care about it, but I think we can objectively say that is the case.

Yeah, if they weren't going to let him break it last week, then it's not going to happen this Sunday.
What's sad is we seem to have taken him out early or for extended periods in several games this year. He should have been able to break the record easily.

I don't want Dak, Dez, Witten, Lee, or Elliot to play a single down.

Play the rest of them but don't put those guys on the field at all.

It's kind of cool that the idea of sitting Witten to avoid injury just sounds ridiculous on the surface. Like, to be so durable that the idea of you getting hurt sounds silly.

I want to see that Sanchez/Wentz duel in the worst way. With Tyron out and if we essentially sit Dez and Zeke with the whole PHI team playing, do you guys think then it'll be a fair comparison of the two QBs? I do.

I want to see Sanchez run this offense as well.

If we're interested at all with him being the backup next year I think he needs to see the field and give us some kind of idea how he can perform in this system.

That's a good point about seeing how he looks for next year.

No..because he would need a full games worth of carries this week vs Philly as well..which he also isn't going to get..so no matter what, he really wasn't going to get it..because he was never going to play a full game in both games

the day JJones quits talking to the media is a sad day for me. He's fun and I don't give a whiff
what tight butts think about him

Which highlights that Jerry definitely doesn't care about saying dumb things.

Zeke will probably end up with 5-10 carries in the next game, and would need like 35-40 carries to break the record.

Pfft. 178 yards? That only takes 2.

Hopefully Zeke realizes it's a luxury to not have to tax his body for two straight weeks.

I think he recognizes that there are future goals that, if accomplished, would mean way more than any individual record.
