Jerry Traded Last Yrs #1 for the Sole purpose of drafting DMac

The following trades COULD happen on draft day...

1. Lito Sheppard to some team for a stud wideout

2. McNabb to either Baltimore or Minnesota for a first day pick or 2

3. We trade the house for McFadden

4. New England and Philly swap first day picks and/or players(one of them being Lito)

NOT saying any of this will happen(and all of these scenerios are unlikely anyways), but we'll likely expect a SURPRISE trade come draft day(alot like how we traded out our own first day pick to Buffalo in '04, foregoing Stephen Jackson).

one way or another huh? with us in serious talks about trading for a WR from detroit or ariz - that speaks volumes to me. no way could we trade up w/o both picks. couple that with several times he's said he won't go into top 5, it ain't gonna happen.

if for some reason he slides to 10, then i can see it being worth it. but since that isn't going to happen either...

He made the trade because it was strongly in our favor, not because he was targeting McFadden specifically.

No I think the worst would be if we didn't grab McFadden and he comes in and just torches Peterson's rookie year. If he tears it up running and catching heck maybe even throwing. And say Barber takes a hard hit and goes down for the season. Now that would be egg in the face.

That being said, I agree Jerry won't go in the top 5 for Dmac. But I still maintain that he's got a good chance to get past the Raiders and the Jets. And if he does, he'll be tempting for Jerry.

I think the conclusion was that we shouldn't not believe a trade will happen. Not that a trade would happen.

FWIW-reportedly a number of teams expressed interest in RW. Really-if Millen wanted to trade him, not only this would have happened a long time ago, but the Lions would have likely gotten ALOT in return from whatever team that won the bidding war for him. And that wouldn't have been us b/c we didn't have that much to give anyways.

He was a pipe dream to begin with. And yes-Millen just missed a golden opportunity to have a huge deck of cards to work with this offseason-he's THAT stupid.

I was convinced the Cleveland trade was aimed at McFadden, but it could have been insurance in case Tony failed as QB. A high Cleveland choice gets us in position to draft a franchise quarterback. Jones has said the only reason to pay top five money is for a QB.

The Quincy vs. Hutch debates may have eventually ended but I've got a feeling this DMac deal will go on, in some form or fashion, for years.
