Jerry: We can keep all three DTs

OK show me more than one team that has three interior defensive lineman all making over $20 million per year AAV?

I keep seeing these other teams do it and then people keep bringing up the Eagles and what they do show me where they all have a $60 million a year quarterback a $39 million starting wide receiver a highly paid left guard A brand new contract with their tight end and now you're saying that we should add Pickens because everyone else has two star receivers no they do not have two highly paid star receivers not two number ones.

There is no president to have about$73 million and that's probably a low number between Lamb and Pickens and now you're saying that they have three that equal 60 million on the interior of the D line that doesn't count the pass rushers...

And we still have to figure out a way to pay Aubrey and our running back Williams..

I realize it's possible but when you say other teams do it I'm sitting here thinking maybe I don't pay attention to all 32 teams but I don't know one of them that has a scenario even close to ours except for maybe the Eagles maybe the Bengals but it's still not close both their wr2 receivers took really number two money...

You have a clear number one making elite money and you have a clear number two making what a top wr2 would make..

But again look at what Prescott makes look at what Tyler Smith makes look at what Ferguson makes Even our fullback got a new deal turpin got a new deal..

I'm thinking nobody in the league has done that yet that would set a new precedent to have three interior defensive lineman as their contracts sit right now all on the same team at the same time and two number one ride receivers making number one money...

I implore you go show me that.

I realize there's some things that you might show me that are close but I don't think any of them have all those scenarios especially with all the fill holes we need to fill on defense....

The most recent example is the eagles pushing dead money into unlimited future years in order to win now. I’d say the strategy worked out for them.

Jerry says we can keep all 3 DT's, and keep George Pickens.

They have their work cut out for them.

Some reworked contracts. Increase in salary cap. It is possible. Other teams do it.
it comes down to does NGM believe that he is about to do it his way; and thus truly goes all in.

I was not familiar with how good Q is; no surprise considering he was exiled to the Jets. But watching him, I see the kind of wrecking machine you really need in the middle of your Dline.

Right now, we have the best Dline overall since the 90's. Not as deep of course.

Clark will take a paycut, and they will restructure Osa (which is a low-risk move, Osa is the picture of consistency).

I see a lot of comments here that don’t realize what got us into this predicament over the last 30 years. We’re talking about getting rid of Clark and his salary cap, but yet we have a $60 million QB who hasn’t accomplished anything. It's a team effort, but team includes Dak coming to realization he needs a defebse to win. We like to complain about the defense but then don’t want to pay for one, then another 30 years it is. It's not only Dak, we did same with Romo, same with multiple offensive weapons that haven’t scored every time or close to everytime down the field. Those saying to draft and go younger don't realize we can't draft a DT bc we suck at it.

Looking at the cap they can absolutely fit everything together currently on the roster but I highly doubt they will be players in free gency.

Draft Peter Woods
I'd love to get him, just feel he'll be long gone by the time we select.
I know PFN has him 13th on their list (and our first pick is currently 16th), so he's available there in some sims, but CBS has him as the #2 prospect in the draft, only behind Bain, and they are usually more accurate in prospect rankings. I know a few QBs could jump him, just seriously doubt he makes it to us.

Sure at what expense? What do we lose Aubrey and Williams???

It’s the best way to offset ballooning position salaries at QB, LT, WR, and DE. Roseman was way ahead of the curve on this. Rams GM is another that has embraced the future of roster management.

I doubt Clark will take a pay cut. He has no reason to because he can earn more guaranteed money with a new deal elsewhere (probably his last chance to do that). He will take a restructure. Of the $41 million left on his contract the next two years, none is guaranteed, although his $11 million roster bonus kicks in on the third league day in March.

I would think we'll restructure the roster bonus before then, probably make it a restructure bonus. We may sweeten it by turning some of his $8.8 million base into bonus as well to lower the cap hit even more. The incentive for Clark is he'd get more guaranteed money, while we could lower his hit under $10 million.

However, unless Dallas needs the restructure, it may be better to restructure other players because Clark has no dead money right now. So we would be creating dead money by restructuring him. We already have dead money for players like Dak and Lamb, so they may be better targets since we are already kicking that can.

No. They don't have to lose anyone. They could not touch any of the DTs' contracts and afford both Aubrey and Williams.

Dak's base next year is $40 million, so we'll most likely restructure his contract again to move a lot of that money into the void years. Lamb has a $25 million base, which means we'll probably turn that into bonus and prorate it out as well. We save $9 million against the cap by cutting Steele, but we could gain that space by restructuring him as well. Diggs is in the same boat, except we save even more if we cut him ($12.5 million).

There are some other players we could throw in there for restructures, but that should paint a good enough picture that we can move money around to keep who we want.

One of the main points none has mentioned that Jerry pointed out is that they view Osa differently than Williams and Clark. Jerry said they see Osa as someone that “could even play out on the edge (can’t remember verbatim)”…won’t be shocked next year if they run a Hybrid 4-2-5 with Osa at SDE and draft another EDGE guy to go with EZE and James Houston.

Yeah, I'm not expecting more than some low-key bargains to replace a few who leave. Not that that is any different than usual, but just less moves than we made this offseason, and no picks for players like we did with Milton, Murray and Elam.

We may add a linebacker or two with Murray and Sanborn both leaving. We may add a vet backup at center if Hoffman leaves. We have Eze and Houston returning at DE, so we'll either re-sign Clowney and possibly Fowler or add some cheap FAs there. I don't think we do anything at DT since Clark, Quinnen, Odig, Thomas, Winfrey and Toia are all under contract. Don't think we do anything at corner (Bland, Diggs, Revel, Butler, Carson) other than maybe retaining down-the-line depth, even if we cut Diggs. Don't expect any free agent safety (Hooker, Thomas, Bell) even if we don't re-sign Dono.

Other than center, I'm not sure we address any offensive position other than few re-signings, and we may feel better than I think we should at backup center.

i love how we went for like decades not giving a rat's *** about DT and now we're all in. Maybe one year we'll have like 5 starting caliber safeties. lol
If Jerry truly wants to contend, we will have a ballhawking FS who can fly.

Osa seems to be drawing some one-on-ones with OTs when we are in our 5-2 front. In order to double Quinnen, offenses have to single-block Odig and try to block one of the two ends with a tight end with chip help.

I think safety and middle linebacker will be high on our list. Which one is higher might depend on what we think of Luke Wilson and Marquese Bell/Juanyeh Thomas (an RFA).
