Jerry: We've had 3 different coordinators on defense in 3 years. That's my fault

ie. Eber is here for the long haul

No he isn't, but he is the guy who refuses to adjust to the players he has. This is an indictment of Jerry, much more than the DC
He is adjusting, and mightily. To no talent.

“ What you really want more than anything is at times like these, you don’t want people who break and run. You want them to hang in, stick in there, look pragmatically…”

Ironically, the above portion of his quote is what we have been living for the past 30 years; hanging in there, sticking in there, and looking pragmatically while this GM continues to disappoint us as fans of this once proud franchise.

So now we have confirmation of who selected and hired the defensive coordinators ...
Jerry is both owner and GM so he can't avoid being at fault even if it's a group decision. Not that I feel sorry for the old tyrant. He should never have made himself the GM as well. He heaped decades of competitive and winning instability on the Dallas Cowboys. I do credit Jerry for purchasing the team at a critical time and more effectively operating or cooperating with key management and coaching staff during the 90s. However the dark side of self-confidence is arrogance.

On DC Matt Eberflus: “He will get there. He’s trying to eliminate those explosive plays. … "
So Jerry you employed Eberflus (and his Zone Defense) to play a soft passive defense.....absolutely no consideration of whether you had the players, or whether those players were comfortable (or able) to play it.

Bingo! And hung him out to dry by trading his best defensive player ONE week before the season started. Just me, the scheme is similar to the one Quinn used while he was here.......but he had Parsons. It has similar Tampa 2 concepts but you have the right pieces to make it work.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan talking about Dallas’ struggling defense: “It’s going to get work. It has room for improvement. You can tweak defenses and make dramatic difference. … We’ve had three different coordinators over the last three years. That’s my fault. … I think our defense will improve and it will improve to the level of preventing some scoring.”

On DC Matt Eberflus: “He will get there. He’s trying to eliminate those explosive plays. … We know Eberflus. … What you really want more than anything is at times like these, you don’t want people that break and run. You want them to hang in, stick in there, look pragmatically, make the adjustment if necessary, but do it begrudgingly because Flus has a plan. It hasn’t worked. It always looks bad when it doesn’t work. … If you can’t take that, you can’t coach in the NFL.”

No, Jerry you were able to get an ex-Head Coach to become your DC. Just like obtaining 5 former 1st Rd picks it looks good on paper.

Problem is that the media are more passive than Flus' Defense and too scared to push back or even pressurise Jerry.

"are you fully supportive of his plan", "with the poor start, how long does he retain your support" and the coup de grace...."you've pretty much got the Offense taken care of and assuming you're going to use the up coming four 1st Rd Picks on Defense, do you agree that the draft complements the DC and scheme?"

Like some fans on this very site, Jerry does not understand what NFL talent is. He thinks if you just try hard enough you'll play like Myles Garrett. Just an NFL dummy.

And don't underestimate the loss of Lewis and DLaw. Lewis was always glued to the hip pocket of the slot WR, taking a huge piece out of the game. DLaw and Golston were excellent pieces on the other side of Parsons.

I'm not an Eber fan at all, but he has no chance w/ this clusterfudge of players.

Yeah, and they aren't very good either!

200 million in Corners just being burned each week. Do the right thing and scarp Flus. Protect your investments Jerry
