This may be the answer.Oh, Jerry wants to win, all right. He's just not any good at making it happen.
There is a disconnect from what he wants, and what he is actually capable of achieving.

Not any good at it and he knows it, but insists on being in charge anyway. How is this wanting to win?Oh, Jerry wants to win, all right. He's just not any good at making it happen.
I haven't seen any evidence of the ego issue w/ Stephen. What makes you say that? While there's room for doubt with Jerry's desire to win a Super Bowl enough to get there, his awful ineptitude in serving as GM curses any likelihood of making it possible. A stubborness in retaining that position remains a formidable enemy. Both Jerry and Stephen have overinflated egos that fool them into ignorance of their football incapacities. I'm hoping Stephen has the common sense to hire a GM when Jerry is no longer able to retain that position.
He's echoing everything Jerry has to say about how great they're doing in managing the Cowboys. He's taking the same positions that Jerry's been taking in that regard. The media knows what to think about both of them and it doesn't present a pretty picture. Big egos are at the forefront of their denial issues, thinking they're doing everything that needs to be done and it'll all be fine under their control.I haven't seen any evidence of the ego issue w/ Stephen. What makes you say that?
Of course, but there are no signs that he wants to be in the forefront spewing every day like Jerry, or that he will insist on being GM. Jerry being GM is by far the biggest problem w/ this team, there is no close 2nd. Why do you think Stephanie will be his own GM?He's echoing everything Jerry has to say about how great they're doing in managing the Cowboys. Stephen constantly makes quite overstated remarks about it being a proven strength, rather than a weakness. They're both in denial of their sad ineptitude, in ways that present the same problems that have hurt this team in the past. Most of this team's fans know he's just as inept as his dad.
The signs are there, alright -- it's just that Jerry takes control of the attention far more than he does.Of course, but there are no signs that he wants to be in the forefront spewing every day like Jerry, or that he will insist on being GM. Bolded: Very well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely. I haven't seen that Stephanie is an attention hore. The signs are there, alright -- it's just that Jerry takes control of the attention far more than he does.
I hope you're right about that. To me, Jerry is so busy being the mouth that Stephen gets left out.Absolutely. I haven't seen that Stephanie is an attention hore.
So your contention is that Jerry wants to win, and doesnt know how.I’m not too sure why this isn’t so obvious, Jerry DOES want to win probably more than most of us. He just doesn’t know how. Hopefully, he’s finally learning.
He can’t help himself……It's wanting to win, but being delusional about your abilities to make it happen. Want and ability are two different things. I could want with all my heart to be the goalie of the Detroit Red Wings, but, based on my abilities, that team would have to be totally nuts to hire me for that. The worst goalie on a minor league team would be better at it than I would be. This is not a problem because I'm well aware that I'm not the right person for that job, and the Red Wings wouldn't be stupid enough to hire me anyway. The Cowboys problem is, Jerry isn't aware that he's not right for the job of GM and the team would be way better off if he hired the best person he can find for the job. Wants are unlimited. A person can want anything imaginable, but it ain't happening without the right ability and a good plan to achieve it.Not any good at it and he knows it, but insists on being in charge anyway. How is this wanting to win?
Of course, none of this includes the phrase "Therefor, I am stepping down as GM", which means it's all just more gaslighting.
And since he knows he's doing a bad job and that it doesn't work, then he doesn't want to win.So your contention is that Jerry wants to win, and doesnt know how.
If I didnt know how to do my job I wouldnt have one.
He wants to win. His way. That is the entire problem. His way hasnt worked for 30 years. Yet, he still keeps trying it.
Funny you said Einstein to someone else. Remind me who came up with the definition of insanity again.
Jerry: "I would've been fired as GM from any other team."It's wanting to win, but being delusional about your abilities to make it happen. Want and ability are two different things. ...
We might be talking semantics. If you think that Jerry is delusional about his abilities to the detriment of this team, then we're in agreement.
I have no other explanation for Jerry other than he may exhibit some egomaniac tendencies and this gets in the way of him being able to self-improve himself.Jerry: "I would've been fired as GM from any other team."
Are you sure he doesn't know?
He doesn't do any of the homework required of a GM, refuses to watch tape. Just tosses his ideas from the hip and prays. And doesn't care if he's wrong. No, he does not want win. Doesn't care.I have no other explanation for Jerry other than he may exhibit some egomaniac tendencies and this gets in the way of him being able to self-improve himself.
That's a good point, and I can't read his mind, but my best guess is he's good at compartmentalizing. He knows he would have been fired if he were just a GM hired by some other owner, but in another compartment in his head, he genuinely believes he's learned enough now to be able to get that 4th ring. It's delusion.Jerry: "I would've been fired as GM from any other team."
Are you sure he doesn't know?
