I guess he does need an interpreter.

Jones is talking about the 2016 postseason only.

Romo is the best option for the team that Jones refers to if Prescott is injured and cannot play any time between now and February 2017.
I really hope you are right man. I dont trust Jerry especially when it comes to Romo. And having to be "RIGHT"

I read this and my take on this is once Dallas locks up the bye that Romo will likely get the start to shake off the rust so that if he needs to come in he will have some playing time under his belt.
I saw nothing in the comments to make me think that Jerry would be pushing for a change at QB only wants to be prepared in case Romo is called on

I agree, and that's exactly how it should be. Dak is only one big hit away from the bench. Tony hasn't played in what.....a year and a half? Rust indeed.

Why even jinx the health of Dak in the first place? Why can he not just SHUT UP.
IMO, that wasn't jinxing anything. Had he said something along the lines of "Dak will stay healthy and play marvelously", then that, to me, would have been a "jinx" statement. I think you're reading stuff that just isn't there.

That's good advice. I can understand misunderstandings when Jones spouts his usual gobbly-guck but I don't understand how he's misunderstood after saying something coherent.
Hey, i did say i may be overreacting.

There is more than one way to contribute. Romo is contributing every week, you see it on the side line shots of him coaching Dak up.
Yup. There is more than one way to contribute to a championship. Romo is doing what he can to contribute under the circumstances.

That being said, I think he does need some playing time after the #1 seed is locked up.

His comments went on to talk about Romo being ready to step in and succeed should something happen "health-wise to Dak" (his exact words). Don't read too much into his comments there.

The guy loves Tony and feels great that he's the backup. He wants him sharp if he's needed. I imagine this means he'll get some snaps if we clinch HFA.

That is how I see it as well. Dak is the starter but once things are wrapped up, If I had the opportunity to put in Romo so that he is ready then should something happen, Dallas will be ready for it and Romo will be ready for it.

If you truly believe Jerry is jinxing it, and that his words will change the future and alter reality causing Dak to get hurt, you probably need to spend less time on the forum and more time in therapy.
Ill take that into consideration. Know any good therapists?

This type of fear (that's felt by others as well) is misplaced. Jones would have insisted Romo replace Prescott as soon as he was ready to return to the starting lineup if he ever held that intention. It didn't happen. Some people should consider this fact and ease their angst because Jones isn't responsible for it in this case.

I know most people dont read to much into what Jerry says anymore, but something he said stood out. The part when he stated he wants "Romo to CONTRIBUTE" to a Superbowl. This could mean many things.
1)Helping Dak progress and win one for the team (this is my hope)
2)Forces Romo into the lineup if we make it to the Bowl.

Lots of you will say im crazy for thinking Jerry would be that insane to throw Romo into the Superbowl game. Let me remind you, this is Jerry we are talking about here. This is the same guy that has done very detrimental things to this team to just say "He knows football".

Does this concern anyone else? Or am i just over thinking and freaking out for no reason? Personally i think if Dak takes this team to the Superbowl, no way he can be benched, but this is Jerry.

For the record, i am not predicting a Superbowl appearance by any means. I am just stating what i think is going thru Jerry's Johnny Walker blue soaked brain. Like who says this? In case Dak has a health issue? Jesus Jerry enough with the jinxing. And how is doing what gives us the best chance to have TONY contribute to a championship best for the team? I am just so concerned this man is going to screw this up somehow.

Rant over

https://www.all22.com/dallas-cowboys/jerry-jones-wants-tony-romo-ready-contribute-championship

“I want to do what gives us the best chance to have Tony contribute to a championship,” Jones said. “I do want Tony to be ready to go in case that Dak should have an issue health wise, and that gives us strength going into the playoffs.”

He is practicing as holder on extra points. :)

Agreed, I would definitely play him vs the Eagles if HFA is locked up.

If what Jerry says is not explicit or otherwise obvious then it is a waste of time to read anything into it. He likes doublespeak.
