Jerry's family had to tell him to put his hand on his heart during the national anthem

He was probably looking at a cheerleader and wondering if she might want to have his baby, or if she was one of his babies. :D

He didn't forget. He knows he doesn't have a heart. The devil took it when Jerry sold his soul for the three SBs.

20-30 years ago putting your hand on your heart for the National Anthem wasn't a thing. Hand on your heart was always for the Pledge of Allegiance. National Anthem was simply to stand at attention (and maybe sing along).

Does that minimise its importance?

Hand on Heart Tradition in New Zealand

National Anthem Performance

During the performance of the national anthem, "God Defend New Zealand," it is common for Kiwis to place their hand on their heart. This gesture symbolizes respect and patriotism.

Sporting Events

This tradition is particularly prominent at major sporting events. Players and fans alike often participate in this act, creating a moment of unity and national pride.

Cultural Significance

The act of placing a hand on the heart while singing the anthem reflects a deep connection to the country and its values. It is a way for individuals to express their love and commitment to New Zealand.

Thing is hand over your heart is for the pledge of allegiance... not really traditionally for the national anthem.

Men will remove their hats too but Jerry couldn’t in training camp cause his toupee was sewn into the ball cap.
