Jerry's having a good year

This fanbase is behaving like the team is 10-2. Its sad to see how mediocre expectations have become for this franchise, they make them looks like its on pair with the Browns or Jaguars.
Exactly facts, we been so bad so long cowboy fans standards are lower, how can u post Jerry is having a good season, wow!!!!!

but is this only temporary sanity by Natural Gas Man?
Oh, there's no sanity involved. Jerry has personnel people that are normally not allowed to do much other than prepare a draft board and pick through the bargain bin for free agents. They were allowed to do more this year because of the rift with Micah Parsons, which not only produced some draft capital but a desire in Jerry to prove he was right to trade Parsons. He's been talking about trading picks since he made the trade because he wanted to prove that he won that trade.

A sane GM would have changed things up years ago when what he was doing wasn't working. Jerry has changed nothing since 2012. He believes in the draft (now; he didn't in the 1990s after Jimmy left up until he hired Parcells). He believes in trades. He believes in cheap FA. He does not believe in expensive FA.

Some are trying to see change where there is none. Jerry has always been willing to trade for players. The Parsons rift just caused Dallas to be a little more aggressive with those trades.

The drafting isn't any different than it has been (sometimes you hit, sometimes you don't). Cheap free agency hasn't been any different than it has been (sometimes you hit and sometimes you don't). Trading has been different because of the Parsons situation.

Uhhhhhhh yep, Isn’t that what we do here is discuss our opinions. Or do you create a thread and then not want to discuss different opinions?
Pull your panties out. I just said it was his opinion and not fact.

I’ve been critical of Jerry the GM but you have to admit, he’s done a good job this year.

Draft pick hits: Tyler Booker, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Shavon Revel, Shemar James. (Not giving up on Jaydon Blue)

Free agents: Kenneth Murray(playing better than given credit for), Sanborn before he got injured, Javonte Williams, Osawaru Odighizuwa, Dante Fowler, James Houston, Perrion Winfrey, Hakeem Adeniji, Joe Milton

Trades: Quinnen Williams, George Pickens, Kenny Clark, Jadaveon Clowney, Logan Wilson

Jettisoned: Parsons for 2 1st round picks and Clark, sent Mazi packing.

Coaches: Brian Shottenheimer and his coaching staff. Jerry to the risk in giving Schotty the chance he deserved.

All these players are either starters or solid depth.
You've been critical of Jerry as the GM? You are basically the president of the Jerry Jones fan club. Shouldn't you also be critical of Jerry the owner as well?

Lets wait to see how they play on the road, good teams wins at home, great teams win on the road and this cowboys team hasn't done that this year.
Then when they do, you’ll come with something else to crap on them about.

Jerry's having a good year.. we're finally for the first time after 13 weeks above .500. The odds of making the playoffs are low, only requiring us to win 8 in a row to end the year.

Yes Pickens was a great trade. Williams should as well. But he completely botched, epically, the Micah Parsons cluster. And led to an awful first half, historically so, for our defense.

You plan a defense around a top 5 defender and then a week before the season, gone. But Jerry's having a good year.. ok sure.

The team is arguably better without the 1 dimensional Parsons with yet another 1st rd pick left to even get better.

Let's see what happens at the end of the season. Now, to be fair, I am not saying deep run into the playoffs. Being a realist, we may not even get into the playoffs if we continue to do well but this is what I want to see: I want to see our team compete all the way to the end of the season and let's see where everything falls. However, to be fair, it seems as if Jerry and his team haven't done too shabby. I am one of the few who agreed with the Parsons trade and I did have swallow my pride earlier this season by giving Jerry props for that. We are on the right path but do we continue to have our usual winter derailment? Playoffs or not, I want this team to be dangerous all the way to the end.

Then Jerry needs to sign GP so we can continue next year, and we better go deep next year.

Maybe but the staff spent an off-season planning around Micah. Having him traded without an adequate replacement a week before the season... Absolutely an unmitigated disaster.

Could be better in the long term? Maybe, probably? We'll see. But it was a failure for this year.. barring a slim glimmer of hope. But even if that works out it will be in spite of what Jerry did to torpedo the beginning of the season.

And let's not forget the Eberflus hire.

Fact remains he leads the team in tackles.
So did Jaylon Smith.

Murray is the worst player on D now that Mazi is gone. And Sanborn? LOL.

There is a reason they traded for Wilson. And its not because Murray and Sanborn were playing awesome.

Jerry making up for his mistakes and making trades mid season in an almost lost year.

LOL. GREAT GM.

Murray-garbage
Sanborn - Not even going to dignify that.
(This team had the worst LB group in the NFL before Wilson was traded for)
They also didnt trade for Clowney.

Williams is the only FA who has done anything.

Why did you leave Elam off of your list? Maybe because you were talking him up all offseason about how great he looked in camp?

You literally think leading a team in tackles makes you a good LB. Go ask Jaylon Smith if thats true.

and you had started out so well...

Please: If Jerry has stumbled into a few good choices, it doesn't make up for the fact that he is, overall, a terrible owner and a terrible GM. His record of failure since the Super Bowl Years - 30 years! - is embarrassing and shameful. Jerry is mainly interested in Jerry - not the performance and reputation of the Cowboys.

He leads the team in tackles.
Well considering he has 714 snaps and a lot of those as the Mike and the second highest amongst LBers is 380 from a rookie with none (almost none?) at the Mike are we supposed to give him credit for that? Stating someone leads the team in tackles is a comment that comes from people who judge football games from reading box scores, not from watching the games. You want to compare just tackles, then look at snaps as well. Who leads the team in picking the wrong gap? Taking himself out of plays by starting out in the wrong direction? Getting washed out by a blocker? Tackling a player AFTER he catches a pass on you instead of not allowing the pass to be caught?

Murray 70 tackles in 714 snaps. One tackle every .098 snaps
James 61 tackles in 380 snaps. One tackle every .16 snaps
Sanborn 34 tackles in 230 snaps. One tackle every .15 snaps
Liufau 24 tackles in 165 snaps. One tackle every .15 snaps

They way it was handled torpedoed the first half of the season, defensively with a brand new HC and DC. He set it up for initial failure. I'm sorry, but that's on Jerry. Sign him before the draft or don't and trade him. The end.

It might play out great for the next few years. It's certainly looking that way after a small sample size. But the thread is specifically about Jerry this year.

I think a reasonable argument could be made that on the whole he's been 50/50 given Pickens, Williams etc. However I think he's overall been slightly below average given just how much a colossal screw up the Parsons situation was. Just no plan, just Jerry bring petty and reactive. But it won't be because Jerry has some chessboard grand plan.

And don’t forget the masterwork job of sabotage six days before the opener.
right. it's impossible to ignore just how many impactful moves have been made. maybe the most ever since i've been a fan. but without a plan in place, terrible timing, at the expense of one of the best players in the league and his mega agent, and seemingly without any concern for the fans. just a few things done differently, or sooner / with urgency and i'd absolutely be singing his praises. as it stands though? no chance

i'm really not certain how you can say that considering the defenses he led, coupled with the fact he didn't get to play with an offense like this, coupled with the fact he barely got to play with Overshown. I'm happy with how the team looks, i'm thrilled with Q and having him moving forward, but i don't get the logic thrown around here whatsoever.
