Jerry has done sold everyone yet again! Here's this annual's sales achieved by Jerrah:
- A $1 billion stadium that turns out to be just a tad more before the economic downturn. The best part is he's got tax payers chipping in a good chunk of the percentage, but hey Jerry has tax payers capped at approx. $350 million which represents almost 30% of the total tab on an investment he collects on and privately owns as close to 100% gets. Taxpayers and their devoted politicians should only be so honored. "His" 70% that the fans pretty much generated 90% of while being "loyal customers" over the years anyways is at such a "risk". He set the project up years ago and closed it last year, but the funding has to continue in segments and continues to do so throughout this season and pretty much has concluded.
- The Cowboys are super bowl contenders, should actually be the favorites to win it all! I have so much I can expand on here that I won't even get into because it will get ridiculous. We all know the results.
- This coaching staff is star studded and definitely one of the best in the league. Wade Phillips (HC), Jason Garrett (Assistant HC and OC), Brian Stewart (DC), Hudson Houck (OL coach), Dave Campo (Secondary coach), Todd Gratham (DL coach). I'll take Wade as a DC even though he calls the same play twice in a row that allows 2 running plays in a row, on 2 different drives, go for over 140 yards and 2 TD's in the 4th qtr. We won't even get into how miniscule our opponents running yards were prior to this meltdown. If he has a real HC overseeing the game, that doesn't happen on Wades plays.
On I go here. I'll keep Houck as OL coach who should have always been here but was banished by a new legendary leader with a different philosophy, understandable when Sparano did a heck of a job anyways. Gurode is a guard and his snaps at center are not Houcks fault because Gurode is what he is, again a guard regardless of Houck's efforts. The line has been performing as good as when Sparano was coaching it and Sparano was better than good with this big but dumb bunch. Nonetheless, if any other QB is under center here they either demand better results (Brady, Manning) or get slaughtered (the rest of the league other than Romo and Brees). Campo has the secondary playing much better at the right time, this is an easy job for him and he's good here at this positon. Everyone else, even Gratham who is getting results on the DL the last 6 games can hit the bricks for all I care.
The best part is we see Jerry throw Wade and Garrett $3 million each and think Jerry is a big spender on the coaching front but how much do you think he saves not paying a real GM? His coaching staff salary is not at the tops in the league anyways when spreaded around as a whole, but he'd make you think that with the news reports. Bet we're closer to the bottom 20 in the league in this regard than the top 10.
- The HC and his staff are SB caliber. Wade Phillips has never won a playoff game as a HC and his DC stop before Dallas (San Diego) had a team full of pro bowlers who never won a playoff game while he was there and gave up a truckload of points game to game. Yet he and his staff have a formula to win championships. Yadda Yadda! I saw people before this game begging to keep him as HC after beating NYG and I don't even see 1 ioda suggesting so after this game. The Kool Aid wore off obviously and rightfully so!
- The new stadiums season ticket and game to game prices. The concessions, the parking, the merchandise prices. This team gets more nationally televised games which pays the NFL, which in return provides the Cowboys with more revenue generating avenues for achieving such results. Yet these huge added marketing dollars earned does not factor into the pricing of all the prior mentioned segments of the business known as the Dallas Cowboys.
Folks, I and others could go on and on but there is one thing that is certain to me. Jerry Jones is not providing enough bang (results) from the bucks he generates from the fans of the Dallas Cowboys. I hear time and time again that Jerry is the NFL's best salesman. Well a salesman Jerry is indeed, but not a good salesman. A good salesman/salesperson does generate a substantial amount of revenue and volume, absolutely. To me that's someone who is great at generating sales but isn't a great salesperson. A great salesperson can generate the sales and volumes but also produces the desired results of the customer (us) and actually exceeds them. A great salesperson builds a relationship with the customer (us) which Jerry does do very well. But do we all believe Jerry has the integrity and the credibility that the best salespeople have?
When it comes down to it, the best salespeople create win/win situations for their partners/clients. Well, the only one winning in this partnership between Jerry and us is Jerry. We're not seeing results folks. It's been 12 years and counting and we haven't even won a playoff game. We may not even make the playoffs after a game we were supposed to close the stadium that we won all 5 of our superbowls in to open another and move us closer to the playoffs.
