Payton Manning's offense is much too complex and completely different from what Dak's skills present. It would be a complete overhaul of the current scheme and, imo, set the Cowboys back for at least a year.

He gave his buddy a good reference.

That doesn't mean anything. Thread title is completely disingenuous.

It was enough to send some people here into a tizzy and it wasn't even a reference for this team. People are grasping at anything and everything.

Peyton was a pure pocket QB who ran a pro-style offense. How would that help Dak and this offense? Might as well have kept Linehan if one is interested in Peyton Manning as an OC.
One of the worst takes imagineable. You continue to outdo yourself.

Interesting if true... Peyton Manning, a quarterback, might be the best offensive coordinator in NFL history. Unlike Tom Brady, he was given the opportunity to prove that he wasn’t a system QB... he himself was the system. The general observation from defenders and coaches across the league was that the Broncos offense was largely indistinguishable from the Colts offense with Manning in it, and by his second season there the Broncos has scored an NFL record 606 points.

Very few Hall of Fame QB's make good coaches ... if any.

Lawrence Taylor was one of the NFL's greatest LB's ... but there's no way he could teach the art.

Not saying I want Manning as coach but just because Manning was a pocket passer doesn't mean he can't coach different styles.
When has he coached a QB, much less a whole offense? How would he know when Dak should run with the ball if Peyton never did it? So how would he know how to use a multi-talented QB?

Manning has never coaches a single game, no thanks.
People complained about Garrett, and rightfully so, for being named OC then shortly after HC without prior experience doing both positions. It's taken Garrett 10 years as HC to barely achieve the little he has learned and achieved. Now people want to do the same with Peyton Manning? Sacrifice this youthful and talented team for years to come so Peyton Manning can gain years of experience?

No, thank you.

Seriously? I'm not a fan of him being coach but Manning was a coach on the field. He ran the offense already, in his last season he knew he couldn't throw like use to and worked the offense around it. Just because someone didn't do something doesn't mean that don't know how to do it. That's a very silly argument. I'm with you on not having him as coach though but for different reasons.

So Manning would know how to run RPOs and use Dak's running abilities better and more creatively?

Peyton Manning as a full time OC?
People need to get a grip

That guy (who is just "Joe fan", btw) that wrote that the thing on 247Sports, Rick Laughland, has a very fitting name if he believes this is possible.
Btw, the other links mention nothing about manning as OC

Manning as a team owner? Maybe
Manning as a part-time QB consultant? probably at some point
Manning as the Jets and anyone's OC this year? :lmao2:
