Isn't that the whole point of this thread, a fantasy trade scenario? I was simply stating an opinion for those that have no interest in trading dlaw. Why you have to go around killing everyone's dream trade scenerios, lol.

Well, Hell, if we are going with fantasy, I’ll start talking about my ongoing romantic relationship with Jessica Alba. I’m leaving on my private jet this afternoon to meet her at my villa in the Swiss Alps.

Depends...

It took the Cowboys a 2nd & 3rd rounders to move up to draft D-LAW, then several more years to develop him into a 14+ sack/year monster. D-LAW barely turned 26 years old in April, which means his best years are still to come. He should be among the league's best pass rushers arguably for the next 5 years at a minimum.

It's not very smart to trade him, even for two future 1st round picks if you can't guarantee that either one of those 1st round picks could develop into a 14 sack/year left pass rushing DE. Too much of a risk in my opinion, unless D-LAW and his agent decide to try to rob the bank throughout the season in negotiations for his next longterm contract.

But it is part of the 8 year process, and then Jerry can have his built in excuses to keep Process Man to add 4 more years to the process. He has this years excuse already to keep the process going.

We could have traded our #1 pick last year for Mack or Donald (both very dissatisfied then and now), but instead they selected Charlton.
Trade Taco and give up a 2nd next year (which the Boys throw away anyway) & get Mack or Donald.
So much wrong here.

Neither the Rams or the Raiders would take the 28th pick for Donald or Mack. Can't believe that was even suggested.

Why would the Cowboys trade Taco? He's looked great and on a rookie deal. And since when do the Cowboys throw away 2nd round picks? You have to go all the way back to 2013 with Escobar.

Lawrence on a Franchise Tag is not worth 2 x 1st round picks. He's an exceptional player, and don't want to lose him.....but 2 x 1st round picks plus 17m to spend is worth way more than Lawrence. Especially the Jets 1st round pick that I think will be a top 10 pick.

This guy is just finally starting to come into his own and we want to trade him? Ridiculous.

Also, I don't ever see any team trading two 1st round picks unless it is for an elite QB and we all know those stay put.

Why would you want to trade arguably your best player? You draft and try to build a championship team with these types of players, only to trade them away? It makes absolutely no sense, it only keeps creating another hole to fill that you already filled...

We're not building a championship team
We're just building a 'contender '

We don't have a pass rusher on the roster that has any skins on the wall outside of Lawrence. So we are going to get rid of the only one we have for picks down the road? So then we trade him and then as the logic seems to be here we trade for Earl Thomas and I still don't think a third rounder will do it. Probably gonna take the second.

With our worse pass rush....it will to a certain extent negate the addition of a better safety...and a safety who in many eyes is on the backside of his career. The Seahawks defense has got worse over the last few years as their pass rush has become ordinary. I don't think it is a coincidence.

So for Dallas this year, we would trot out Taco and most likely Crawford as our starting DE's, with Gregory as a pass rushing specialist. Tapper and Armstrong as the backups. Taco showed very little a year ago and while he looks improved I don't think you can expect him to become a double digit sacker this year. Carwford is gonna be your try hard guy that picks up 4-6 sacks. If Tapper can stay healthy maybe he does the same. Armstrong may pick up a few. Counting on Gregory to pick up the slack is just fool's gold. The guy is one mistake from being out of the league.

Only thing different from a year ago would be that Jaylon looks much improved and might be a sack threat from the LB slot.

Looking at it from a standpoint of this year, you pretty much are throwing in the towel before the season starts. The only chance we have is a defense that carries the load. The offense has too many questions at WR, TE and yes....QB to be counted on to be anything more than average. And the strength of our team, the OL and RB, lead to a style that tends to keep the score close....close enough for teams to always score in crunch time. We have seen it for years.

Those two draft picks? Let's say for argument's sake one of them is a stud his first year. Chances are against both being big contributors. Are we any better given these circumstances?

It basically would be sabotaging Garrett doing this....and giving Jones another excuse to bring him back for another year. If we were reasonably sure that trading Lawrence would get Garrett out of here and they would bring in a Coach with real control....then maybe you would consider it. In Dallas that isn't an option though....it is going to be a young guy just happy to get a shot or an old guy looking for a last hurrah and is willing to let the Jones boys play GM.

None of this sounds very attractive for this year. We have a very young team, one of the youngest in the league. Additions now should be more about getting a stud that can get us over the top rather than guys with potential for the future.

I would make that trade happen so fast it would make your head spin.
I'm putting those two first round picks in my pocket and targeting my next franchise QB.

I think they just want to see him have another monster year and then they will pay him. Heck, they can wait two more years. Franchise him again. If he produces around 14 sacks a year 3 years in a row, then sign him long term. HE is worth it.

If Dallas isn’t going to pay him, they might as well get something for him. Wasn’t there a report going around saying he would not play under the franchise tag next year?

For 2 first round picks i'd drive Lawrence to the airport. One season of elite production. Back problems. Wants huge deal.

These are the type of assets you flip if you can and don't look back. Especially given our production in the 1st round over the last number of years.
