Excerpt from Jennifer Floyd Engel
1. Cowboys fans had to be feeling a little sick when Fox play-by-play man Joe Buck revealed what Seahawks coaches were thinking after wild-card weekend.

Apparently, Mike Holmgren and Co. were "stunned Dallas did not make more shots down the field during their game."

Join the crowd, Mike. "Stunned" does not do justice to how Cowboys fans feel about failing to attack Seattle's sorry secondary.

The Bears have Grossman, and even they were smart enough to go after such a glaring weakness. Why, why, why didn't the Cowboys do likewise?

Maybe, just possibly, it is because the Bears provided Grossman with a semi-clean pocket, something Romo rarely had the luxury of operating in.

2. Watching the Baltimore-Indy game was another reminder of how far Roy Willy is from a Pro Bowl strong safety.

Ravens strong safety Ed Reed is everything Roy Willy has failed to be in that role. I have been preaching this sermon about this clown for forever, to little avail.

So, maybe people will believe "a Valley Ranch voice."

My S-T compadre, Randy Galloway, had this little nugget about Roy Willy in his Sunday column: "Roy has gone from being acceptable in coverage, to a joke. It's like he thinks he's an entertainer now, looking to make SportsCenter with his hits, while blowing off what he needs to be concentrating on."

What bothers me about this assessment is that I am not sure a refocused Roy is going to be much better.

To use a Parcells-ism ... he is what he is.

Gee, I watched the game and I saw Reed do some of the same things that we roast Roy about so forgive me if I don't see how he is far and away everything "Roy Willy" has failed to be.

But oh well, she's jumped a new broom...it's the offseason and she needs a new schtick.

Where is are the others who to tell us our game plan was not flawed and we played good. That if not for the botched field goal we would have one.

My point is that "IF" we took shots downfield it would have never have came down to a field goal attempt to win. Look at Chicago they won because they took the last shot downfield and completed against the "loan officer."

The issue with comparing how the Bears played Seattle and how the 'boys played Seattle is that it still took overtime for the Bears to win despite taking shots downfield.

When it's all said and done, the 'boys were in position to win and they didn't get it done regardless of the game plan.

In his first year of playing QB there is absolutly no comparison to Romo and Grossman. Bears offense does not even compare to the boys. We truly under schemed and performed.

the Cowboys took a few shots long, a bunch medium, and even more in the short range with dismal results. A few more long balls might have helped,,, but that would have required the crappy OL to provide better protection. Besides, I don't know if Romo's deep passes are quite up to snuff, yet.

it's funny that in point #1, JFE doesn't even mention TO, if anyone was going to be attacking the hawk's secondary, that would be TO

but of course that wouldn't fit into the agenda

So last year it was Mickey this year its JFE. How about if the writer's write what they think about the disappointing end to our season and we evaluate based on the words they write. If JFE thinks TO is poison that's her right and if she thinks Roy has turned into a shell of a safety well everyone has a right to vote for Jerremy Steven's for the probowl at NFL.com because Roy is a great player.

Has anyone in the Dallas media every said anything nice about the Cowboys?

The Cowboys are the most hated team in America... even their hometown media hates them.

Jerry either needs to hire and or grant existing OFf an Def head coordinatiors the abiltiy and desire to operate in a scheme outside of BP always wants....this will of course force BP's hand in his 07' coaching decision.......

but there are too many outsiders and insiders saying his "tight ship" was exactly that........no able to adjust, not wanting to adjust........

I don't disagree that the 'boys underperformed.

However an argument could be made for similarities between Romo and Grossman seeing as both have been in the league about the same amount of years with Grossman having a slight edge in experience. This was Grossman's first year playing a complete season and I'd be hard pressed to believe that he didn't experience many of the same issues that Romo had and some that Romo hasn't experienced.

Now do I think the 'boys could've beat the Bears. Absolutely.

If I read that made up comment about Roy one more time, I think I'm going to snap. Remember, this is the Roy Williams that all of the media is mad about because he won't talk to them. This guy doesn't make big hits and doa stupid dance. That's what people who want to be on tv do...
