Somewhere there has to be a hardcore redneck that can actually drive (obviously Dale Jr can't) that can come and save Nascar. Over 60% of the seats had to be empty last night. I know it was cold but damn.

Where they're hurting the most is where it's been the longest. The "fad" areas around the rest of the country seemed to be doing the best. If Dale Jr was going for his 4th straight title those stands would have been full last night. Charlotte NC

I'll take your word for it. I've never been able to watch more than 5 minutes of it at a time and all I know is what I catch watching SportsCenter.

I didn't care for the rest of the season once Matt Kenseth was out of the top runnings. But I'll support anybody who drives a Ford. Well, not everybody. Jimmie Johnson isn't killing NASCAR though, former Dallas coach, Jimmy Johnson sure as heck ain't killing NASCAR , I'll put the blame on all the changes that have been made in the past five years. But the die hard fans are still there, nothing has happened to them. I wouldn't say it's dieying, just not at the top of the chain at the moment.

Dale Jr is very overrated. His has his dad's name and that is it. At this point he really is irrevelant as far as a title goes. Maybe something changes, maybe not.

You are missing the point. Dale Jr is the most popular driver in NASCAR fanwise. So if he is winning, the fans flock to the tracks and watch on TV. This has nothing to do with him being overhyped or overrated. This has to do with popularity.

When the most popular entity in any sport is successful, the ratings go up. When the Yankees are winning, MLB ratings soar. When the Cowboys are winning, NFL ratings soar. When the Lakers are winning, NBA ratings soar.

Since Jr is subpar, and Johnson is so dominant, the ratings kind of stink. The hardcore NASCAR fans are probably turned off by the success of the west coast guys and the west coast fans are probably not nearly as hardcore about NASCAR as them good ole boys in the South.

Juniors problem is he can't figure out, or drive, the COT. He is completely lost in that car. Before the COT, his record speaks for itself - he was a totally different driver. Is he overrated? Ya, probably, but his REAL problem is the COT and his inability to adapt to it. HE is getting the best equipmnet money can buy adn he can't do squat. HE did more with less prior to the COT - look it up..
