I was a former competition karate fighter. My style was Yoshukai karate, a derivative of Taekwondo. My online name combines my nickname and my interest in karate. And, yes, I'm have a great appreciation for Bruce Lee. I think every martial artist does. :)

It was the 70s. Those karate flicks were pretty campy, but you watched them for the karate. Bruce Lee's flicks were a bit more "sophisticated" in comparison, particularly "Enter the Dragon." The plot was more James Bond-ish than the silly "defend the family honor" themes that littered other karate films of that time. (Even though Lee had a defend the family honor theme in his movie, it didn't dominate the plot.)

But "Enter the Dragon" was the best of his films. Everytime we finished watching it, all of us tried to imitate Bruce Lee's moves and his verbal karate expressions, "Waaaaa!"
Too bad he died so young. :(
