I just read the recap of BP's press conference, and is BP thinking about cutting JJ's carries even more? I am speechless the guy is having a career year, and felt he was doing well with spliting the carries up between MB and JJ. the guy is barely getting 21 carries a game. He is always pulling out big plays. JJ wears down the D and MB finishes strong. Also is it me or anytime BP says anything nice about JJ he always has to gush about MB? I never see him gush about JJ when there is a mention of MB. You want MB to get more carries then stop giving TT the ball.:bang2:

Bill tends to over work JJ. If JJ has his current workload all year, he'd end up with 350 carries. Only 4 backs in the league last year had that sort of load. That's too much for Julius.

TT? TT is getting garbage time carries, his load is not relevant.

JJ is doing just fine a 20 carries a game. In reality when you have two good backs, you want them spllitting alot of time. Because it means more work for the Defense to adjust to.

As for productin

When priest was splitting time with Johson, there numbers werent that bad you know.

Let the coach do his job. Last time i checked he gets paid millions of dollars to ensure he can get the most of his players

If this team is to have legitimate playoff aspirations, we will need our RB's to have fresh legs towards the end of the regular season. Splitting carries between JJ and MBIII is the best way to ensure that.

I actually don't think that Bill is talking about giving Julius less carries at all. I believe he's simply alluding to a plan to run the ball even more, overall. He sees that we're pretty good at rushing, and knows how to play into his team's strengths. Bledsoe is struggling a little bit. He sees that. We're running the ball well. He sees that. And so, the perfect marriage for both is to simply run the ball more than we have thus far.

This will not only maximize our offense's current strength, but will also take the pressure off of Bledsoe and the passing game. After all, Drew works best with a strong running game, a slow rush and off the play-action pass. All things that greater use of a successful running game will cause.

So, I don't think he's planning to feed Julius the ball any less. He knows Jones has been our best weapon thus far. I think he just also really likes Marion Barber, knows what an even stronger running game would do for his entire team and plans to up the overall carries for the offense.

Let's not forget that Bill Parcells built his legend on coupling stout defense with a strong running game. And, oh, look, those just happen to be the two areas of his current team that are the best. Coincidence?

Well... just watch....

JJ is playing well but splitting is the way to go because MB can get the job done too. Mix them up and keep them fresh (plus they have different running styles and defenses have to adapt).

the thing is u put out a players spark sometimes by doing this. They get a feel for it and every time they start getting a spark he gets pulled.

if it works keep doing it till they stop it. then bring barber in.

I just hate seeing Julius rush and break good runs and then seeing Barber get the one yard TD after all julius did.

i understand the thought process of not wanting to get him pounded and Barber being tougher but any of you who are players know how it feels to have your legs cut out from under you.

Your happy the teams doing well and winning but even the most humble of us would have rather the call been for us instead of the other guy. it's just part of the game. Its part of being a player.

Its their roles though. Julius gets them there. Barber gets the tough yardage.

I really doubt JJ isnt going to become a stat watcher, I think he knows what he does and how MB3 can help out.

Remember what whats his face said..... Barber is a violent runner

I would also add that getting MBIII more involved doesn't necessarily mean less carries for JJ.

It probably means letting him mix in on 1st and second downs rather than primarily 3rd down and add something to the offense with him getting the ball in swing passes, screens and delays.

The problem with using the current rotation is that when MBIII comes in the game on 3rd downs, it limits how he will be used and keys the defense that he's the first or second option.

I think splitting up the downs is smart. Then see who is finding the holes and then feed them the ball some and keep the other back fresh.

We all caught our breathe towards the end of the Texans game when JuJo went off the field limping.

I think BP is just wanting the use MBIII more to give JuJo more rest and trying to avoid repeats of the last two seasons where we lost him.

If we are to have success, I definitely think JuJo HAS to last all 16 games and be productive. Using him as they are means he'll be showing signs of wearing out by the 10th game on.

Remember, JuJo has yet to play a full season since entering the NFL. He still hasn't had to last a season at the position. His body hasn't had to take a 16 game season of punishment.

Tuna knows this.

I'd be very happy if both RBs could get 700-1000 yds a piece in rushing and receiving. That would be huge for this team. And keep both players fresh and not be asking one player to carry it all.

I think that is the goal with saying they want to get MBIII into the mix more.

JuJo has had at least 4 screen passes or swing passes for big yardage called back with holding or clippinjg or false starts already in the first few games. If he had those numbers added to his current numbers, he'd be getting more attention around the NFL.

But frankly, I think the way it is let's both the RBs sort of fly under the radar with the opposing defense and makes both the RBs more effective.

I also think Tyson Thompson needs to be used as well. He's overdue for some carries, too. He's a got a burst if he can get going North-South that even JuJo doesn't have. And he's a bigger back that can be an advantage in pass receiving as well.

We'll see.

Around 20 or so carries a game is good for JJ. 22 per game would be pushing it. In todays NFL if you give a back more then 350 carries a game he is going to be really beat up by the time the playoffs are here. Putting in MB for more would ensure that JJ is still pretty fresh by playoff time. At that point you could give him the ball 30 times if it became critical. We know he can handle that for a few games since he has done it.

One thing I'd like to see is MBIII get between 2-3 regular series a game -- if he can have 7-10 runs a game that takes a big load off JJ.

However, I would like to see us use JJ as a 3rd down back 2-3 times a game. He's not the blocker that Marion is - however, he is more dangerous on draws -- and that would give the D something extra to think about.

bill did'nt say he was cutting jones's carries. he complimented jones.he said he would like to get mb3 more involved because when he's in there he makes things happen and he does.jones will continue to get his 20 and mb3 to get most of the rest. it's not about stas, it's about keeping them fresh for the 4th qtr, and the end of the season

JJ is an underrated receiver out of the backfield. BP needs to work in some pass plays to him on first and second downs.

Also, we haven't gotten very good production from the TE position so far. Maybe BP uses the single TE set more and have JJ and MB in the backfield at the same time?

And TT needs to be worked in a little bit more. How? I haven't a clue, but he's too talented to be just returning KOs.
