God, did JJ get a perfect jump on that play.

Stategery! That's what happens when you wait til the clock runs down on every passing play, but for whatever reason; we are the only team to employ this strategy to read blitzes and defenses:confused:.

Any "advantage" is offset by the DL/LBs knowing when to jump the snap to generate a greater pass rush. Still audible, make hot routes, line adjustments, etc. but don't wait til there is 1 second left on the clock bf you snap the ball. Defeats the whole purpose.

Actually I'm tired of hearing about JJ Watt....he got punked by Tony, and he doesn't like it, nor does the football community outside of Dallas fans.

If he would have sacked tony on that, that's all we would see every day, like that stupid catch play from the SF game.
But do we see Tony avoiding him and throwing a TD every day..no, of course not.
I feel the same way and to this day I'm still in awe how Tony, was able to sense Watt coming from the left side untouched as you say punking Watt and throwing a TD bomb to Williams in the process and the thing that irks me about Watt, is the fact that he can't except that he got outplayed on that play and his post game comments was all about the sack that got away he didn't one time even acknowledge Tony well better luck next time JJ. if there is a next time.

That was the worst play of Tyron Smith's career.

Watt beat him like a fire hydrant. Then when Smith got up, he had a chance to chip the guy that planted Romo after the throw, but he whiffed on that, too.

Signature play for Romo, impressive but embarrassing play for Watt, and a disastrous play for Smith.

In many ways that's the most revealing part of the play.

It's not that Romo juked JJ Watt. Romo does that all the time to any number of players.

The <more> interesting aspect is how he made an All-Pro LT look downright silly -- something that happens almost never.

Anybody who watches that play with a critical eye ends up walking away mightly impressed JJ Watt -- blown sack on Romo not withstanding.

That is true. Geez, he got a jump on Tyron. I don't even think Tyron even saw him go by.

I think it was a missed assignment, or part of it. The TE was lined up on the right side, and Watt was on the left side, The TE should have came in motion to cover him, or tony should have seen that and moved him, or moved the RB over. Smith had to then try to cover him.

I am not sure if that is the way it was, or Watt got the jump, or a combination. But just another way to look at it.
Maybe a more savvy guru on plays and formations can look to see.

Watt got the jump. Believe me, they knew where he was on that play. Looks like he just knew the cadence on that play and did his job.

# 9 just knew every inch of where he was and escaped his own funeral, then knew exactly where to go with the ball. Just amazing football.

Then iirc Smith handled Watt the rest of the game
