His tackling is awful. Sometimes you need to wrap up instead of lowering the shoulder all the time
His success rate seems better than it has been in the past.

They both bring it this year - veritable little "31's" out there.Does not have more range than Church.
He does bring the wood tho.....if all the stars are aligned.
A SS all along who was miscast as a FS. Closer to the line and with fewer responsibilities, he's golden.
We're running on fumes in the secondary at this point so I'm thrilled JJ is nearly the least of my worries.
Not any worse than Church the last couple of years. His tackling is awful. Sometimes you need to wrap up instead of lowering the shoulder all the time
Yep. Church going out has allowed him to play closer to the LOS, thus hiding his coverage deficiencies. He's an enforcer type to any runner or receiver catching near the LOS. He's becoming an intimidating force. If only he had more range... :-(Does not have more range than Church.

Agreed. He is our tone setter on D. You can tell how the sideline just goes off in response to his hits. He's been part of our bringing the same mentality to the D that we display of the offensive side of the ball: a physical hard hitting brand of football.I thought going into last year wilcox would start over church. I was wrong and Church is still the better player but Wilcox is not a liability and has played well.
We will need him next sunday, I think the ravens game might be the most physical game of the season.
He has more range but he is not as quick to read and react at church. He can run for a safety and he will hit you. He will also continue to get better in coverage. People forget he played very little db in collegeDoes not have more range than Church.

Wilcox has turned into a decent player. I do like how he trys to destroy players lol, but he does need to choose his battles and sometimes just wrap up
And then there's the unguided missile that he sometimes becomes, striking fear into everyone on the field or near the sidelines..................like Lee.
I guess we gotta take the good with the bad, and hope more of his teammates don't become victims.
There is some really good talent in this league. It does take aggressive play to get on top of a large amount of play, and this fan will take an occasional blunder for aggressive play. Hustle covers up a mistake and still eliminates huge plays. That has become a team defensive strength.
I guess I should have added a smiley face to my post since it was a bit tongue-in-cheek.
I love the big hits, and you know the others on the team are half joking & half serious about the dangers of being involved in a tackle with one of these dudes.
Maybe Church 3 years ago. He's lost a step and his tackling has diminished.Church is a VASTLY better player than Wilcox.
But Wilcox will knock you the @#$% out. Wow.
Talk about MVP's. The secondary looks completely different this year with essentially the same personnel.Maybe new secondary coach Greg Jackson has something to do with it too.
He's been really solid since Church went down. I was ready to write him off, but Marinelli keeps putting him in position to make plays. He is really setting the tone with his hitting, and he seems to be decent in coverage. He definitely has more range than Church. He did give up that passing TD to Bell, but that is a tough ask for a safety and a heck of a catch.
I wish he would wrap up, but yeah, people might start hearing footsteps with Wilcox around.
