Man I can't wait until the season because this beating of a dead horse in one news cycle is tiring. Yes, by posting this I'm continuing the beating but this board is about posting news and that's all I'm doing with no comments.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/9298831/dallas-cowboys-tony-romo-team-needs-act-it

So is the answer yes or no?

"The older you get, you develop that a little bit as a quarterback," Romo said. "If you do some good things in the past, then that allows you to show that you can have a little more of that. That's part of the growth that takes shape.

"I know the difference in the quotes sometimes get misconstrued in the sense that Jerry just knows that I'll be in there doing some of the things that I don't think you would do normally."

What a roundabout answer.

No other big-time veteran quarterback would give such a mealy-mouthed approach.

JJT must have had a bad fish sandwich before this story.

The funny thing is that if Romo would have said that he was going to step it up and take on more authority, he would have been panned and the response would have been 'Took 'em long enough' or 'What else is new?'

Guarantee you that if we were to start 4-0, JJT would fall over himself telling everyone how different this team is and how he foreshadowed it months ahead in the offseason. All these beat reporters are shills trying to generate interest in their articles (for better or for worse, whatever seems comfortable at the time of publication).

We're right on schedule here as soon as the threads start popping up about Romo being fat you know it won't be long before questions about his leadership start surfacing.

If I were Romo I would not say one single word to any of those garbage hacks. Not one word.

Not sure what is worse. In not saying nothing the media will still wite their comments and claim the silent from a supposed team lead show how little leadership he has. Romo as the QB will be the focal point and he has an obligation to stand up before the media and speak of his actions and those of the team

If you were Romo you would be screaming "hater" at them.

This is the biggest pile of baloney. So because Romo didn't give the same kind of answer as Big Bathroom to dumb press questions designed to stir the pot that shows he's not a leader? I suppose all of the reports of him working with teammates at OTAs even tho he isn't able to fully participate don't count? Give me a break.

Sure he does as all QB do, is it written? no, but the media will be much harder on a QB who refuses to talk. He is, like it or not the focal point on the team. This notion that you can sit back and say nothing is BS yes they all do. They take the heat and they take the glory

He's never refused to talk. He just doesn't give the answers they like and some fans like.

Do you guys feel Romo is a good leader on the field?...Because in more than a few of the videos I've watched where he was mic'd up he sounded whiny and perturbed rather than inspirational when things weren't going well.

Laughable article by him yet again. Romo responds one way and he is criticized for not being strong and vocal. If he replies the other way, he feeds another 2 weeks of news cycle about who the boss at VR is and how Garrett's role is minimized.

As pathetic as Taylor is, I can still get surprised at how much of a buffoon he can be.

I'm not saying what he should say or not only that it is expected out of Romo and all QB around the league. Romo is the guy who is in front of them after every win and every loss. Like it or not QB are expected to talk and deal with the media to not do it is to leave the door open for even harsher attacks by the media

Funny people talk about accountability well this is part of being held accountable to the press and the public and Romo is there to take the heat that comes with the job.

Sorry don't get that feeling. I think he gets frustrated when a guy blows a blocking assignment and Romo pays the price for the players mistake. I think he is frustrated when a WR does not line up where he needs to be.

He gets after them and he also will praise them within the game.

Not really lol...

I only saw a few videos but that aspect of Romo stuck out at me.

On this one, at around the :45 second mark, Romo comes across as a strong leader as he's talking one-on-one with Dez Bryant. But a minute later at the 1:46 mark (when apparently things weren't going well) Romo doesn't come across nearly as strong...actually sounds a bit whiny and perturbed like I mentioned before:

There's another video with Romo mic'd up in the last game against the Skins (can't find it online yet), and right after he throws his first INT the way he talks to the teammates on the sidelines sounded like he was irritated with them far more than he was leading them...then walks away from them on the sideline saying/yelling (rather weakly) something like "C'mon! It's football!...Let's go!" and then starts shaking his head like he can't believe how bad the team is playing (and at that point the game was still 0-0). You really have to hear the tone in his voice and see his head shaking to get the full effect of what I'm saying, though.

He did talk and deal with the media. He just didn't give the answers they wanted.
