Not really lol...

I only saw a few videos but that aspect of Romo stuck out at me.

On this one, at around the :45 second mark, Romo comes across as a strong leader as he's talking one-on-one with Dez Bryant. But a minute later at the 1:46 mark (when apparently things weren't going well) Romo doesn't come across nearly as strong...actually sounds a bit whiny and perturbed like I mentioned before:

There's another video with Romo mic'd up in the last game against the Skins (can't find it online yet), and right after he throws his first INT the way he talks to the teammates on the sidelines sounded like he was irritated with them far more than he was leading them...then walks away from them on the sideline saying/yelling (rather weakly) something like "C'mon! It's football!...Let's go!" and then starts shaking his head like he can't believe how bad the team is playing (and at that point the game was still 0-0). You really have to hear the tone in his voice and see his head shaking to get the full effect of what I'm saying, though.

Sorry sounds like a QB who is a bit PO'ed and given how they played he should be riding their ars. I hear Brady and Manning do the same things when guys are messing up.

Do you guys feel Romo is a good leader on the field?...Because in more than a few of the videos I've watched where he was mic'd up he sounded whiny and perturbed rather than inspirational when things weren't going well.

That's a real STUPID comment, Obviously you haven't seen much film of Romo miked up. Dude go away. Smh!!!

He did talk and deal with the media. He just didn't give the answers they wanted.

And I never said he had to give them what they wanted, they ask question he answer from his own point of view. As I said as QB he is expected to stand before the media and talk and take question, he does this.

That's just it, he wasn't "riding their arse"...he was (imo) being more than a bit whiny. In the video of the Skins/Boys game, he almost acted like he was asking questions lol...more like "C'mon?...Let's go?...it's football?"...Seriously, there was zero authority in his voice. Brady and Manning ALWAYS have an authority in their voices, whether encouraging or "disciplining" their teammates.

And in reality, leaders won't automatically start tearing you down or acting disappointed or disgusted, especially when the game is early and it's 0-0. A crapload of time left. That's what he should have been telling them...not shaking his head and walking away from them.

That is your take, as you said that is your opinion.

JJT is a pathetic hack. He does know how to BS though. That he is quite familiar with.

You deserve nothing! Go to your own board and comment on your own team and QB. Why are you here, you're not a Cowboys fan. Its a backhanded way of trolling. Kick rocks!!!

And, yeah, I know lol...I wish I could find the example from the last game against the Skins. I hadn't given Romo's leadership abilities much thought until I watched that Sound FX video (or whatever it was)...I was actually surprised that he sounded the way he did. I first thought was "The pressure of this game is already getting to him". Then I saw the other video I posted above and thought maybe this is just how he is.

Ugh. I wish JJT would "pass" on his poor attempts at journalism.

So JJT expected Romo to address an issue that team management and coaches have tip-toed around all off-season?

I gotta admit, Tony does come off sounding pretty lame in that video. Not only does his voice sound like its about to crack when he's trying to yell in his "tough guy" voice, but what he says is the most corny stuff ever.

"We gotta play football.. its a game.. its happening today!!"

:laugh2:

If i heard that from a guy on my team, i'd roll my eyes and chuckle to myself.

That being said.. JJT is a goon.

The comments on the article are great. Everyone slams JJT for one of the worst excuses for an article I've ever read.

And some of what Ray Lewis said sound corny, these guys are live it is not scripted. It is also only a portion of what he is saying. Guy know Romo puts it on the line, I think he earned a ton or respect from his teammates in how he has gone out there took the beating he has and gotten back up and went right back out there.

Only people who seem to lack respect are those who have nothing to do with the team. His harshest critic could not even dream to do what he is asked to do.

Those who have been in his shoes know better, that is why he gets respect from Aikman, Staubach and White they been there before. What some clown sitting behind a desk or in front of his TV means nothing they never have and never will do what Romo is asked to do.

People forget how Aikman handled the press.
Before or after the titles, it did not matter--that guy was as purposefully deadpan as one could ever get.
He was constantly being called a stick-in-the mud, boring, even dumb.

Turns out he had plenty of personality but just didn't want to feed the sharks.

I was just in the car listening to Fisher on the radio and wondering what " media person" he was referring to when he said there were a couple of people in the media that had gone so far off the deep-end they were trying to connect dots on how good of a leader or even QB Romo is based on a few quotes.
LOL
Now I know who was referring to.

Smartest things is not always what you say but what you don't say. :D

Your right Romo is smart enough not to feed the sharks.

There have been QBs who have questions/criticized Romo as well, though.

At any rate, my initial question was if anyone here had gotten the same impression from watching some of these sound FX videos. Whether or not our impressions are 100% accurate wasn't really the point.

Sure looks like he's leading when he's repeatedly leading the team to 4th quarter comebacks or game-winning drives in the final minutes. Playing with broken ribs and a punctured lung would inspire me if I were his teammate. Organizing the team workouts during the lockout seemed pretty leader-like to me..but what do I know?

Thank you lol...for all I know all of Romo's teammates revere him and hold him in awe while on the field, I dunno. But to my eyes and ears, when I watched and listened to some of Romo's mic'd up moments I found myself saying "Really, Romo?" lol...
