I'm not a big fan of Newman. He doesn't make enough big plays whenever he does play.

The cornerback position is not a position that is designed to make plays. The ideal cornerback prevents big plays. I would say newman does an excellent job at that. However, he does need to shut his mouth.

Hos, my issue is that if I'm TNew, why even speak about this issue?

What's my upside if I say anything? Why not just say "next question", or "I'm not going to speculate about my QB's personal life in public. It's a private matter."

Maybe it's me . . . . but I couldn't imagine saying anything about my colleagues' personal lives to the press, whether they asked the question or not.
I think he was in essence defending Tony and it was cut and snipped.

and tell me, what did we win with parcells and TO?

same as without.

some need to let the friggin past go and get over it.

Thanks... for helping me make my point.

Epic fail by you... trying to diss me, and instead, helping make my point... a point... which, obviously, you missed (judging by your reply).

I realize that, but I've seen quite a few dropped interceptions.

I never, ever like JJT's articles, but the two blog entries from today (this and the Romo/Cutler one) were decent. Not great.

I think that what I dislike is when he posts his opinion on something without backing it up with relevant reasoning. A lot of the blog guys do that, but JJT does it with a "and that's just all there is to it, if you disagree you're ignorant" sort of attitude. At least that's how it rubs me. Reminds me of some of the hot air that you hear on BSPN.

Anyway, all that to say that he is either getting better at this blog thing or he's having a good day, IMO.

And I think he makes a decent point in this one.

Still, like someone said, it would be alright for him to say this stuff to Romo if he truly felt like it was getting in the way of the team or something... but why say it on TV?

Just like it would've been wrong for Romo to say Newman didn't deserve the six-year, $50 million extension he received becasue he has an issue staying healthy since he's only played 23 of 32 games the past two seasons.

Ouch! Anybody wanna defend this?

if your point is you have no point, you win.

if your point is you miss parcells and TO, you win.

if your point is anything else related to making sense, i'm not alone in my epic fail.

for all the people who blow smoke up TO's arse, he sure is lacking in any significant jewlery to be given such status. his winding up in buffalo speaks measures about real teams wanting hm.

yet some bitter fans will still flog us with the damn memory of TO cause they wanna cry about it.

have fun.

There is no code when the girlfriend is famous. Rodney Peete, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, et al can all testify to that.

What ever happened to Lori Morgan??? She was hot!

And you'd be right. But Hos is right in what happens. I don't think he meant he agreed with it but he can speak for himself.

Somebody needs to tell Newman to shut the hell up or he is the next one out the door.

If Jerry released his pet cat TO, then he wouldnt give a second thought to releasing Newman.

Don't worry. Nobody in this thread needs to worry. T-New will get his usual hang nail and miss his usual 2 to 3 games and when he does, the young guns... Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick will be there to fill in without much drop off. Before you know it, Newman will be on the trade block after this coming season.

You're right. He'll miss a few games with something. I made a couple posters mad the other day when I questioned his durability, but it's a valid question. Deion didn't even miss this many games. He's 31 I'm told. I really don't feel like looking his age up because I don't like him to begin with. It's going to be downhill from here.

JJT = tool.

For what, speaking the truth. When Brett Favre called out Javon Walker for holding out and not finshing out his contract everyone killed him. Favre had no right to talk about the man's contract unless he was lobbying the organization to pay him. I didn't see Favre handing Javon any of his millions after he tore his ACL.

JJT was dead on here. Newman just needs to shut up and worry about himself. If we look back at that season ending disaster at philly, the eagles weren't exactly shy about throwing Newman's way. He needs to look at his own performance before calling out others.

Newman does talk to much.

I really like newman and he is a very good player.

But, he is not the qb. He is not a better player at his position than romo, ware or witten are and he should not be taking shots at them.

I dont think anyone has the right to attack the qb the way some of the players here have romo. Its wrong and other guys should come out and attack him.

and as for newman, like I said, I think he is a very good player but he puts people in bad situations with his mouth. I kind of changed my view on him after the steelers game, phillips called him out, rightfully so on him getting beat on that 3rd and 17 which gave the steelers all the belief that they could move the ball. That play could have closed the door on that game. Instead even after the goal line stand they had the belief they could move the ball.

I dont think newman appreciated being called out and then in turn called out the coaching staff. That is not what a leader does and in turn I find him judging everyone else as shallow. I think newman is still ticked about being called out and that is why in that same interview with trahan he took another shot at the staff.

To me, no one but the head coach and maybe GM talk about the qb publically. Our team could care less, they all talk about everyone. Everyones a critic and it started when you know who was put in the locker room and the guys saw that it was now a free for all.

Qb's are the wheel, the rest of the guys are the spokes. It would be nice if newman could learn that and just be quiet. If he has a problem with jessica simpson, go tell romo himself if he thinks it will help the team. Telling trahan is nonsense. Last year, right or wrong, newman called out roy williams on with mike doocy. There is no need for this stuff. I hate that newman is a guy doing this.

ok I read the cleaned-up version of Newman's comments

still don't see him not saying that Romo's relationship had an affect on him

Serioulsy, I would cut or trade the guy. He's stupid, he never plays a full season, and he's not that great of a player.

well, no offense but that is foolish. He is a very good player and the team needs him. He simply needs to just do his job and not go on tv and talk about people. Its a waste of everyones time. No one gains anything.

Last year his comments about roy williams were out of line . Whether they were right or wrong doesnt matter. he shouldnt be putting people in this position.

Now romo is going to have to answer the questions about jessica simpson again in may at the minicamps because newman has to go on tv and feed his own ego. Its simply not neccessary.
