And yet common sense tells me that whether he's on the team or not, there is only a difference of not even a million dollars or so. So, the amount of money he had to pay either way is irrelevant to a billionaire.

And I thought I was the one smoking something.

Coming from some one who said no way would Jerry cut owens, any thing you
say is laughable. News flash, billionaires don't become billionaires giving millions away. More common sense you wont grasp.:)

Newman said the media attention was the problem, not the relationship.

And did Joe Trahan break a "code" by asking Newman about Romo's relationship, or is part of the media's job to try to get players to break the "locker room code"?

Why people can't understand this is beyond me. It's not that hard.

TNew is on some *****assness. Why is he saying all this to the public? If he has a problem w/ Romo just talk to him man to man.

If Romo and Newman had any issues, they wouldnt have been playing golf together.

I call *BS* on this one....

Why wasn't anybody in the media talking about "lockerroom code" when people were talking to Ed Werder about things that were going on?

I guess there's just a double standard when it involves a negative about precious little tony romo

Hos, my issue is that if I'm TNew, why even speak about this issue?

What's my upside if I say anything? Why not just say "next question", or "I'm not going to speculate about my QB's personal life in public. It's a private matter."

Maybe it's me . . . . but I couldn't imagine saying anything about my colleagues' personal lives to the press, whether they asked the question or not.

That's the same way I see it. The media constantly tries to make it an issue, so the only way to make it a non-issue is to not discuss it.

and what part of it do newman and many posters here not understand.

Perception is reality. Say anything and you are declaring something, and around here something big.

Newman going on channel 8 and even talking about jessica and romo in any capacity refuels the jessica is bringing tony down.

Dunham and miller made a big deal out of this on their show this morning and they did two segments if i remember correctly on women bringing down athletes.

As soon as any dallas cowboys player acknowledges it or talks about it in any way shape or form it is a talking point again. There are 7 tv stations here and 3 sports radio stations. They are dying for material from the cowboys.

Newman and imo, every other member of this defensive unit would be wise to dissapear until minicamp. They all need to worry about their own issues.

No good can come from talking in this market. There are no such things as harmless comments. If any player does an interview here and spends 5 minutes talking up romo and how good he is etc and then says one thing negative for 10 seconds no matter how small, it starts a firestorm.

Speaking for myself, I understand that fully....and you'll notice that I haven't defended him talking about it. I've only defended what he said....and that it isn't any of the multitude of insults and **** talking that most of the posters on this forum are making it out to be.

People don't even read....they just make up whatever they ****ing want.

This will just continue....

The Circus is still here even tho one of its supposed clowns left......

When this team struggles at some point next season and it will .......the media will once again blow up something to get headlines.

Who will it be next? Roy Williams complaining?....
Ellis asking what his role will be?
Newman blaming the scheme?
Crayton talking trash?
Barbie giving his input?
Romo and Jessica?
Jerry the meddler?
Wade the puppet?

Maybe TO was on to something......every answer to a mediot question should be "next question"..........but then again......unnamed sources articles will come out and the circus will continue.....

The only cure.....and its proven time and time again...

is to win....

well that is very true and it wont change. That is why there are bloggers running around everywhere declaring themselves as journalists and making a living with this very type of thing.

Players here can literally not say boo, it causes a large tremor then they all have to explain themselves and talk again.

THis is part of what parcells said when he said it is a difficult place to coach and that there were things that were not conducive to winning around the team.

THe media here will drop everything and report anything on the cowboys.

Yeah right. I rarely ever say all-inclusive terms such as never or all.

The point being is it's irrelevant whether he's on the team or not due to monetary reasons because keeping him and cutting him was a little more than a half million dollars, insignificant to a billionaire and relatively insignificant to the salary cap that's over 100 million dollars.

So keep living in the world of you don't even know what the hell you're talking about.

And by the way JJT, the reason Stewart was fired is because he stunk!
First JJT will say Wade hasn't the balls or the authority to fire someone.

Then it's throwing the guy under the bus.

And not for nothing, but the bus picked up alot of speed after it ate Stewart.

Jerry loves this, that is a problem.

The word chemistry, and locker-room 'chi' as my old coach used to mock it.

Our guys aren't mentally strong enough to handle the pressure. You'd think at this point, after 1,100 days of daily Cowboys ESPN headlines - they would understand how to divert attention. Instead, they still fall into the same 'traps'.

Romo is aware of this, thats why he takes such a aww shucks approach. I'm sure he's got opinions, but he undertands how there is a big echo in Valley Ranch. Romo, Barber especially, and Witten get it. Why can't the other guys?

There is no code when the girlfriend is famous. Rodney Peete, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, et al can all testify to that.

There is a code.

You never talk about anyone - period.

Especially not to the media. Anything can be misconstrued.

You have a problem with someone you talk to them to their face.

That was a classless act.

That's how I feel. T-New didn't make it out to be what the media is but he could have just said he doesn't feel there is any benefit speculating on an answer to that question. Instead he gave his outlook which is an opinion.

And if Newman had a problem, he would have. But pointing out the circus around Romo because of his GF and how different the perception is between how he is viewed when he goes 13-3 and 9-7 is not a "problem".

I agree with most of JJT's article, I think another's player money and women are off limits. Wade may have threw Stewart under the bus, but Wade did make a change and where a change was truely needed.

Dang this website should be called RomoFanboyzone.

You all know this started after Tony went to Cabo. I know Wade told the guys to take the weekend off, but when pics of Tony and Jessica came about the tabloids ate it up. I'm pretty sure it made for great locker room material for the Gmen.

We ended on a really sour note at the end of the 07 year. I don't know how you reward a team time off after looking so bad those final games in December.
