If they don't go QB at 4 and Romo goes down again, ................ I can't even think about it.

:(

The worst part about this scenario is that even if Romo goes down we still might not end up picking in the top 5 again. We had to be historically bad to lose 12 games and all of the FA QB's had to be ineffective. My biggest fear is that we're just "good" enough to win 6 or 7 games. We may not get another shot at a franchise QB without selling the farm to move up.

Joe banner does not want us getting Elliot. He knows what he can become behind this line..saying that I hope we go QB, I've learned my lesson after the aikman era, that was painful, fighting over who's better quincy or Chad.. Makes me sick.

I begin to think, that the FO thinks that we don't need a great QB with that Oline. Just get that great RB and get a game manager as a QB. I don't know if that would work. I want Wentz or Goff with the 4th pick. But if we don't get them try to trade down a little and get Zeke.

The sad thing is what you're saying isn't that far fetched. It's like the thinking they didn't need a good O-line because of Romo's scrambling ability. They were still trying to add pieces to that unit then but the failure to get even average NFL starters was stunning.

I want the Cowboys to use every resource they have at their disposal to win the super bowl in 2016 and/or 2017. I don't care if we are 2-14 in 2018-2022.

Last time we drafted a QB out of UCLA in the 1st round, he started 12 seasons for us and won 3 Superbowls.

That school has historically produced NFL level talent at the QB position.

It was very bad, but nothing they couldn't recover from. A lot of teams had bad drafts in 2009 though. I'm the last person to excuse the clowns that run this team, but that whole draft was a giant dumpster dive.

This is a prime draft to chase a QB though. This team needed a contingency plan on QB yesterday. If they could get a prime prospect in place before the clock strikes midnight on Romo they could hit the ground running toward the next era of Cowboys football. It's gonna be a lot more difficult to do that when their hand is forced and they have look under rocks for a replacement.

The 2009 draft was a talent wasteland.

Goff is a Cal Golden Bear, but yeah.

Last great Cal QB was/is Aaron Rodgers. Goff plays very similar to Rodgers' college tape.

neither goff nor wentz is worth a top 100 pick in addition to the first.
I agree.

I'd rather have Robert Griffin as the QB of the future on a cheaper contract and continue to bolster the foundation of the defense with the first two picks, or figure out a way to get Zeke.

Wasn't that the year we admitted to taking players we thought would only be special team contributors lol

Yeah the special teams draft. Lord that was a bad idea and it completely flopped. We might as well not even shown up to the draft that year.

I think 2 years later we didn't have a single player drafted left on the roster

I'll take a guy with a 90 quarterback rating and offensive rookie of the year under his belt over a college kid.

One has played and succeeded in the NFL and the other is an unknown.

And is now a complete bum who regressed and has an injury history and who NFL teams aren't clamoring to sign.
