I'm happy too. Jones is never getting past halfway decent. But they're not looking at it as having 3 more years of cheap. They have to decide whether or not to extend him after 2021. Like every other team does. Our Cowboys are special in that we apparently don't do that.

Put it this way. They could have drafted Fields and still made the decision with Daniel Jones after 2021. They didn't need the WR. They could have drafted a decent WR in the 2nd or 3rd.

I agree with you, but they evidently think jones is their guy, just like jerry thinks dak is his guy.
If they think that, then they are not going to draft a top qb or get one in FA.

Thing is they could have drafted fields, and traded him or jones later.
jerry could have grabbed trask or mac jones etc, take a look, then trade them later.
No one seems to do that, maybe I am crazy, but I think it is smart to grab a guy that will have good trade value later.
you could even play them in a game and if they look good, their value goes even higher.
