Yeah but when you act like you have stolen Zeke in the 7th round it really looks pretty stupid when he can't even make your practice squad. I don't think he is very good at player evaluation. This and playing the golden cock reinforce this working theory.

I won't argue appearances. Not because I necessarily agree with you but because I honestly don't care how excited Mark Eli appeared to be on draft day. All that matters is whether or not we find players who can play at a faster rate than other teams.

Again.... You're referring to 2014 onward and we basically gave up 3 picks on Calboure that should be starting their 2nd contracts.

Name our D 2nd contract players..... Then compare #'s to our O...... We strike out on D, it hurting our base.... Imagine Tyron, Fred, Dez and Witten not on our O
It's your claim. You should list specific players.

Lets go all the way back to the Sean Lee pick and all 1-3 defensive picks since.
Claiborne - He was universally regarded as a top 10 talent but stayed injured.

Carter was productive here but got over paid to go elsewhere.

The others are all still on the team.

Gregory was not a talent issue so it does not matter if he was defense or offense in terms of grading the talent evaluation process.

It makes sense to start at 2014 because that is when Marinelli took over. 2014 was also the first year McClay was elevated to his current role following 2013's draft day snafu.

Jones, Collins, Hitchens, and Wilson merit second contracts. DLaw will get a second contract. I don't know if it will be here or not.

MO, Gregory, Jwilliams, JJ Wilcox, M Jenkins, B Carter... That goes back to '08 cause OScan is still playing ....imagine our D, had those looked like' 14 forward?!
At the same time on O... We drafted Tyron, Fred, Dez, D Murray

It was not long ago that seventh rounders making the team meant we drafted well.

I guess it only applies when it is feel good.
I think when a 7th rnd players makes the roster it's great and a good job by the scouts but for a 7th rounder to make the roster of a playoff team is fairly rare
And I don't think a 7th round pick not making to team means you drafted bad

I agree with your reply. If Marinelli has too much input into player selection I just think that may not be a good thing.

I look at it differently. I think the Cowboys have truly upgraded the young talent level on the D-line. In an earlier season, Ivie would be on the practice squad or perhaps even the 53.

A lot of potential on the line, a lot of youth, but it will still take a half of a season. I think fans will be really surprised as they come together.

He was a 7th round pick. If your roster is any good then most 7th round picks don't make the team and if they do then they usually don't stick. Marinelli liked the guy and we took a flyer on him. When was the last impact player we got in the 7th round (Jay Ratliff 2005). Geoff Swaim, Alan Ball, and Sean Lissemore have been our best 7th round picks since 2005. I am hoping that Noah Brown breaks the 7th round drought. Getting one good player in the 7th round this year would be a coup.

Lol basically. This is ridiculous. They threw Rod a bone off the scrap heap and it didn’t work out. I love seeing any of our coaches get that pumped over a 7th round flier regardless the outcome

It happens. He was a 7th rounder. I was more upset about Darrin Chiaverini back in 2002 when he got waived. The Cowboys got him from the Browns in 2001. He was a slot receiver before that position has become what it is today. He led the league in receiving in Madden when I used the Cowboys in season mode. We all know that Madden is exactly like real football.....

Well, it's not like he has zero shot at making the PS later on. The DT spot is still up in the air, and we are light at that position. He could be signed later in the year to the PS if we experience injuries there.

Anyways, we took a flier on a DT in the seventh round and it didn't pan out. No big deal.

This is a prime example of why some roll their eyes at cowboys fans...even if you are a cowboys fans.

Making up a thread to complain about a 7th rounder not making it and really upset because a Defensive Coach was happy to draft said player in the 7th round.

Now we have to make up some idiotic reason to complain about it. NEVER happy unless complaining and whining about such inane stuff.

All position coaches get excited if they get a player they like drafted.

WR Coach D.Dooley gets very excited even if it is a lower rounded WR that gets drafted, he will even go around lobbying for one of those picks.

Most of the time those lower drafted players will not make the team but it is just a Coach being excited about a player.

Instead of whining about it and making a spectacle complaining about...maybe people should stop and be thankful some of these lower rounded drafted players are not making the team.

If you can't figure out why, that is one you.

EVEN if a coach is excited about said player.

Seriously.

Sad part is...there have been plenty of us fans who over the years has had a Pet Cat get drafted in the late rounds and we are excited about said player only to see them not pan out...So what it happens.

Ken Bishop Comes to mind. There was a number of us excited about getting him in the later rounds...he did not pan out...It happens.
