Ok nothing has been posted in here all week so I have to know what you zoners are thinking. I'm sure you all were able to listen to Gruden and his "opinion" of romo, off line, coaches, and various other intangibles about the Boys. IMO his high praise which lasted almost the entire second half and continued with Mike and Mike the next morning with his continued praise of the great Hudson Hawk and his opinion of the boys being able to be a potential powerhouse this year based on the running game. Even during the monday night game my wife looked over at me and said man all he is doing is talking about how great the boys are in every aspect. Well that made me listen even more and she was right. He took the madden card of praising a team during a telecast that is winning to another level. The fact that he continued with this the next morning makes me wonder...was this guy greasing the wheels in all the right areas in hope of a call in the offseason?? Now don't get me wrong zoners I have not given up on our team this year and hope Monday night in the second half is the turning point...I just felt Gruden was putting in his first potential interview and letting it be known he has interest there...but I admit a lifelong boys fan of over 30 years I have lost faith in doughboy...I hope I am wrong!! Just wondering if you other zoners felt your backsides were being violated Monday night cause Gruden was in your space but most importantly Jerry's Space!!

Or maybe you haven't been online all week. There was a huge mega thread right after the game about Gruden's agenda.

Not hating, just saying. Yes, it's been posted several times.

This has actually been discussed in a quite lengthy previous thread. And, yes, the general opinion was that Gruden was angling for a job next year.

I actually enjoyed it instead of CONSTANTLY hearing every announcer talk about how great the other team is. I get so tired of it.

Smart move. Everyone knows Wade won't be around next year and boy wonder isn't exactly doing himself any favors.

My bad it has been hit and miss for me in here this week...busy week at work and my wife broke her leg...my bad for bringing back this thread

I honestly wouldn't mind Gruden as a coach b/c I think the team could feed off of his intensity. Especially the defense. With that said, I dont exactly know how he would fit and how long his routine would last before he begins to wear on the players.

His pedigree is as an Offensive coach that shook from the Bill Walsh tree. He runs a strict West Coach offense and I believe he called the plays. That is a stark contrast to what we're doing now b/c Jason Garrett runs an Air Coryell type of Vertical O. We would have to change everything from how the line blocks, to types of running plays (and backs), new routes and receivers (smaller, quicker in the slot), to terminology and talent. Romo would have to almost relearn the position.

Secondly, who would handle the defense? Wade Phillips' 3-4 is highly specialized. It is unique from the "Pure" 3-4 of Parcells and even different from what we'll see this week from Mike Nolan's D in Denver.

With Gruden would we change the O and the D? And if so, who would we get to run it? If he is hired and we keep the same format, who would stay and who would go?

I'm curious to see how this would develop.

I think Gruden was covering a MNF game and will give similar comments to teams he is covering each week.

He was also auditioning during the NFL draft. He kept referring to the Cowboys as "We" and was loving every pick the Cowboys made.

This.

I seriously doubt anyone thinks they are going to land a job just because they butt-kissed Jerry on MNF.

....and yet if we were to sign Gruden, this is exactly what every JJ hater will dump on for his entire tenure if he failed.

Gruden if and when he goes after an NFL job it will not be done over MNF from the booth.

I still want Garrett to be our HC down the line, but I would accept Gruden as my second choice.

gruden or cowher would be mistakes.

cowher is the most over rated coach in 30 years

I do not think he was thinking that butt kissing was gonna get him a job as much as he wanted Jerry and the Cowboys FO to understand he was interested.

I did not take his comments during the game as him wanting to coach in Dallas. He said some positive things about the Cowboys and this week I'm sure he will say some positive things about the Vikes and Packers.

He would probably love to be Dallas HC. But I think he was just gushing over the team. There is alot of greatness on our team. It hasnt been truly realized yet... but its there.
