I noticed him on the sidelines on monday night. I thought he was here 2 years ago solely to help Quincy with his off field problems. I didn't know he was still with the team. Is there another player on the roster with similar problems?????? Anyone know Lucas' official job title with the organization???

From what I've read in various articles about John Lucas. He's not part of the Cowboys organization. But he likes Parcells style and Parcells respects him. I also think he's there by Parcells request.

He's considered a rehabilitator of athletes. Many troubled athletes tend to go to him to get their life and their careers back on track. Although his roots are in basketball, I think he has a clinic of sorts that any athlete can go to, but don't hold me to that piece of info.

I never thought he was here just for QC. I thought he was here to help Calvin Hill with all the players personal lives... Rookies and veterans...

Who knows. Maybe we've got some other guys who have issues with drugs.

BTW -- Does anyone know if Q was really a drug addict -- or if he was just a casual user who got caught a couple of times?

My boys tell me that he likes Parcells and the way he manages the team and he asked a couple of years ago if he could kind of hang around and observe. They say he has very little interaction with the team outside of saying HI.

I would say your boys have it right. If Lucas had any official position, or even a consulting one, the media would have mentioned it.

Me thinks Lucas failed on QC front.....

I'm not a huge fan of Lucas in general.

Ya, I've noticed him a number of times and I just got worried. His whole reputation is based on helping druggie athletes rehab. The only person I know that he's worked w/ that wasn't on drugs was T.J. Ford.

It immediately bothered me that he was around the team because that probably means somebody needs him around. I think it's reason to worry, but we'll see.

Lucas works with drug abusers.

Perhaps he failed on the QC front because QC wasn't a drug abuser but rather was a casual user.

Kind of like sending someone to AA because they like to get drunk after work on Friday. The treatment doesn't fit the behavior.

Is there such thing as a "causual" user? Either you abuse (use) or you dont.

Bad analogy.

Because if you get drunk after work every Friday you just may have a problem and what part of Carter's story, post Dallas, suggests he does not have an issue?

A casual user does not get caught 3 times, unless they are a complete idiot.;)

Oh I agree about getting caught -- that's for sure -- but my argument is that if he's smoking grass -- a substance detectable in your pee-pee for a couple of weeks -- then it would be shocking if he was using regularly AND only got caught three times.

If he used enough to be have an addiction, he would have flunked 3 tests much much sooner.

So if you have a drink -- ever. You are abusing alcohol then?

I'd say if something is driving you to turn to it, even if you know bad things can happen to you if you get caught, you have a problem.

If we believe the rumors, Carter used when he was in college when they had the coaching change that led him to leave, when Hutchinson came in, when Vinny and Henson arrived, and when Pennington took his job back.

Why do people drink alchohol? Because it tastes good?

Then drink it becasue its a stimulant. Whether you drink one or ten, its abuse.

for the record Im not a goody two shoes, I could care less, I just didnt agree with your analogy.

Alcohol is a depressant not a stimulant.

If you drink a lot, do you stay up all night wired or do you pass out?;)

Lucas has helped plenty of players. I have no problem with him being around.

Quincy was just an idiot then. LOL Hate to bring up the marijuana politics but anyone who knows this issue also knows that marijuana is about as addictive as orange juice. Quincy thought he could beat the system.
