John Phillips... child please!!!

I think we have the defense and rushing attack to do it. I think after seeing the o-line Kitna has been playing behind all training camp i appreciate him a little bit more. Barron and some of those other guys are horrific. I also think without Romo, Garrett would be forced to rely more on the ground game which i think favors the Cowboys o-line strengths. Would we still be a Super Bowl team still? I don’t think so.
Then all would be lost correct? Are you rrreallly crossing your fingers for a playoff appearance this season? Does that satisfy you?

Not all hopes would be lost. It would be very tough making it to the Super Bowl, no doubt. Tough even with Romo. Gosh, lets stop talking about this, don’t want to jinx anything!!!

Maybe Sicko, will be our Phillips of last year. Hopefully he realizes the chance that he has now, cuz I heard on NFL network one of the analysts say that Sicko just went from maybe making the practice squad to being the third TE. From what I saw during the game he seemed to be pretty good, but again it is preseason. I guess we all just have to sit back and see what happens. I think we are set with Witten and Bennett, but I felt from watching Phillips that he gave us that little extra when they put him in there at H back and was also a more than adequate fill in for both Witten and Bennett. Here's to Phillips getting well and seeing him back on the field next year.

Cowboy for Life!:starspin

I think Sicko can come close to the receiving yardage Phillips would have gotten. But there is no one on the team who can take Phillips' place as the H/F back. That's the loss to the team.

Its about alot more than just a third T.E. First of all Phillips was outperforming Bennett and challenging him for his starters spot in the twin T.E formations. Second of all, with everything we have read and seen it appears that Phillips is a true stand up guy, a team guy. Stuff like that is important when putting together a super bowl type team. Players willing to give it their all have a positive effect on the rest of the team. Can we get by and move forward without Phillips? Sure we can, because this team is loaded with talent. But we surely would have been alot better off with him than without him, thats for sure.

very good post and very true.

John Phillips could of very well supplanted Bennett if he kept that perfermance up. Bennett has yet to live up to his hype, and as of right now, until he puts it out there on the field, it is that hype that has him at the #2 spot.

Phillips out may not hurt us any worse than we were, but it does hurt us from what we could be.

We'll see how you feel when Bennett misses a block that gets Romo injured

I'm sure Phillips would have done a better job blocking than Bennett given that Bennett is the best blocking TE on the team.

Very debatable.

Name me another teams 3rd TE....he was a luxury. I doubt our offense is gonna suffer because our 3rd string te is out. If anything im glad it didn't happen to a starter.

He wasn't third string. He was our second string tight end. I stand by those words.

I really like Phillips. With our depth at TE his lose shouldn't hurt us, unless Witten or Bennett also go down, but it still sucks for him. He definitely has alot of potential to be a quality contributor in this league.

I read this post and all I could see was Jerry Jones.

I'm going with the head coach on this one and according to him it isn't. It should be well-known by now that Bennett has been working out with the oline and was a heck of a blocker last season.

Where he disappointed was receiving given the flashes he showed as a rook, but blocking? Dominant for his position.

"Child please" keep that post count nice and low because this thread shows how absolutely clueless you are about this team.

Ouch! :laugh2:

Phillips getting hurt totally sucks. Phillips was going to win that 2nd TE job by a mile the way he was playing. Bennett better get his head straight and step it up.

At least with Phillips we knew we had a guy that Romo trusted. And a guy that was all football. Not a comedy act like Martellus.

The best thing about Phillips? No stupid Youtube videos.

Yes, it sucks to lose Phillips because he played quite well in that preseason game.

OTOH, plenty of teams lose promising, young players for extended amounts of time, derailing their development.

They recover.

So will we.

The injury is unfortunate for the Cowboys and very unfortunate for Phillips.

The timing could have been worse, though. At least the Cowboys have several weeks of camp left, which should give them enough time to come up with Plan B for TE/FB.
